Run hot a lot of the time
Discussion
As per the title, I have noticed over the last few years that I run warm to hot a lot of the time, even when it's cool outside. As far as I'm aware, I have always been on the warm side as an adult. I'm warm to the touch pretty much all of the time even in winter; my extremities never really feel cold. I often just wear short sleeves when I'm outside, and always when I'm indoors. I will wear a light windbreaker jacket over the top if the weather's dicey, otherwise, it's a light layer especially when I'm active. I'm forever opening windows and doors, and often find myself driving with the windows down. I honestly think I could do without heating at home pretty much all year round.
I guess I feel that often I'm looking to ways to cool down. Also, I think because I seem to be at odds with a lot of people around me that it might be an issue. Take today, it feels very warm and muggy to me yet I see people walking around in several layers including substantial jackets. I saw a young lad wearing a down jacket and just thought 'if I did that, I'd melt!'
Anyone else feel like this? Could there be an underlying issue? Or, am I just a bloke that runs hot.
Btw, I'm 39, 5'7 and a shade under 80kg (I exercise with weights about 3 times a week and have done so for just over year, if that's relevant).

Thanks for the link. A lot of what you say rings true. Sweating in a suit under pressure, overheating after a big meal
I'm also very active; hiking, cycling, lifting weights, so it can be annoying.
And yes, I had to stop drinking tea this summer in the office because of my hot flushes
I seem to have a very efficient little heater at my core.

I have problems with this, through having MS. I always had a very narrow comfort zone, temp-wise.
It's worse now-I can start sweating like a bull (e.g. hair sopping wet) in quite mild temps. There's
a complication, called Uhthoff's Syndrome - overheating makes it worse, it gets worse, your MS gets worse.

There work fairly well, over several hours. You just them in cold water for a minute and put them on.
Google 'Hyperkewl Wrist Bands' for more info.

These are HoMedics wrist wraps, which have a gel pack - you can chuck them in the freezer for an hour.
They're good, but don't last all that long...maybe an hour before the packs warm up.
The principle of cooling areas with a good passing blood flow commonly applies. You can get
evaporative/gel pack neck bands, scarves, headscarves and even waistcoats. There's a ton of stuff here...

...and it's worth checking on Amazon and eBay for better prices and UK stock.
A cool bath or shower works but the main thing is to dress down - wear less stuff than you think you'll need.
I'm happy in a polo shirt & jeans all winter long and I have waistcoats rather than jackets...winter equals the
canvas waistcoat instead of the thinner, summer one!
Just remember , it isn't only you, and there are ways...

Another geordie fever sufferer here, haha. And to help matters along I now live in Thailand where a cool day is 30C.
One thing I found helps is cutting out the carbs. If I eat a big plate of rice or pasta I'll boil for a couple of hours.
The other thing is slowing yourself down. Maybe it's because I grew up constantly thinking it's going to piss down with rain, snow or start blowing a gale in a minute so I'd best hurry on back. I find I walk quicker than almost anyone here.

Whats your body fat like?
I used to think i just "ran hot"...until I dropped BF% then realized I was just covered up in fat!
No idea but I've never been heavier than I am now. I lift weights at home now and therefore eat very well. A downside of eating for muscle gain has been a bigger middle. It's not bad but I'm pretty solid for my height. I do struggle to get the balance right between cardio and muscle building, i feel. Hmm, interesting...I used to think i just "ran hot"...until I dropped BF% then realized I was just covered up in fat!

Know what your blood pressure is like?
Same problem here. For me I can feel the sweat start on my back and then the front and then move to the head area.
In fact I went to the Drs today to get the results of some bloodtests she ran to check that everything was OK. Im off for a chest XRay on Friday as the final part of all the checks she can do.
I thought it was size/unfit/fat related but I am at my lowest weight now for probably 25 years as I exercise regularly and a eat low carb diet.

lol... "eat very well" "a bigger middle" "pretty solid"
translation...fat, hot and sweaty
I get the picture... the thing is i don't look fat, more small boned (wrists and ankles) but broad shouldered with a pretty muscular upper body. I think my stomach has increased in girth due to my relatively high protein intake but it's not rounded rather it is solid! It is an area of my physique that I'm working on, so point taken. As for blood pressure, my last check up revealed entirely normal results and very low cholesterol. translation...fat, hot and sweaty
