Looked at a few of these myself. Nearly bought one a few weeks back....wish i had now after seeing the pics of yours!
I shall bide my time and await the one for me to come along.

Looks very good for the mileage, must have been a well loved car all its life.

Looked back on the service history, the first owner was doing some crazy mileage but getting it serviced every 6 months for a good few years.

Has had a respray at some point as well but quality is fairly good.

Looks great but do have to at the result of buying an old convertible french hatch when looking for a reliable car for the winter!

Nice purchase OP. I had a 205GTI 1.9, a 309 GTI and a 405 MI-16 many, many years ago, so this thread bring back some memories!
They always felt really flimsy, but were actually incredibly robust cars mechanically and could take huge mileages. I reckon you'll be fine.

Drives pretty well, don't want to push it until the cambelt is done for piece of mind. A lot soft and rollier than what I'm used to (spent four years driving a classic mini as a daily) but I'm enjoying the smoothness and the extra power as it compliments my skill (big head) of keeping good momentum through the corners.

Hood will work most of the time, then on the odd occasion I'll get no response from the motor...then drive down the road and it will work fine :/

Exhaust blowing is getting sorted tomorrow and going to give the throttle body a good clean.

Haha, but in seriousness, the hood motor working on a car of this age is remarkable! And it looks very nice nick, a bargain for £850.

Did i mention it doesnt leak as well...even the largeish hole on the nearside doesn't leak. Well it leaks, but seemingly not into the cabin or boot or anywhere i can find!

yes, judging by the leather seats and wheels i would say its a 1.9.

if it has disc on the back too then def a 1.9 unless someone has changed over all the bits onto a 1.6

CTI was only available in a 1.6 according to the owners handbook.
Rear has drums not disks so I presume its a 1.6 still. Are the seats not standard for the car?

Lovely, looks in good condition. About the leak, have you lifted the rear seat squabs and had a look under the boot carpet/liner thing?
