"buy a cheap TVR and you'll feel the savage wrath of multiple breakdowns and rotten chassis" They cried.

Further to my drop in at the Rusty Nailers, I've been looking with no real budget set but would prefer something along the cheaper end of the spectrum. (Moving house and all that)

So here's the 3 main ones that I have been considering.

Seen this, he's had it for a while but just reduced the price.

Well priced (for me hehe )
Bodywork tatty in places
rip in hood
Don't know condition of chassis
Don't know if it has power steering
I seen a tvr owners club sticker in their video

This seems good value

Chassis is clean
Black paint means I can make it look awesome with a machine polisher
Tatty interior, But i could fix that myself.
years MOT
Don't know if it has power steering

Hurah! One that has given more information:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1987-TVR-350I-wedge-/261...

On the limit of my budget (I'm contradicting myself here rolleyes )
Has power steering
engine rebuild
good interior
Good bodywork

Wondering what one would be worth my while going to see. Anyone else been to see the ones listed? (If anyone lives nearby, I can drop some beer money via paypal for you to have a look wink )

Some side notes:

I can hold a spanner
I'm factoring in some money left over in my budget for Maintenance/Emergencies.

Number 3 looks nice. But I'd be tempted in having a look at the black car number 2. If only because the body has been off, stands a chance that if the owner has gone to that much trouble, he intended to do a descent job?

If you find out where in Staffs it is I don't mind having a look at it if you like. I'm in Cannock, Staffs so it can't be to far away.

Car number 1 has been for sale for a long time at£4395 I think.

Karl.

On the flip side, you can't guarantee reliability by spending all the money you have.

There are cars out there that are good value for whatever reason.

I'd rather keep a bit of money aside for maintenance / repairs wink

Im not far from the 3rd one the blue one in southend - I can give it the once over to see if its worthwhile for you to make the long journey down to look at it personally. Try sending mr zigazaga a message i think he's had some info on this one. Good luck with the search smile

I have viewed the blue one in Leigh on Sea. Certainly looked good to me but was priced higher when I viewed some months ago and I could not stretch to it. That car features on a lovely old 1980's video clip (on you tube) driven by the chap who owned it from new.

Hear hear. You have to pay your money and take the consequences, we're all adults...
