Classic Car Insurance BMW635

Hi Folks,
Any advice on whether I can get low mileage classic car insurance for my newly acquired 1990 BMW 635csi? Did an online thing and called a "classic" insurer and was quoted circa £600 pa with 8yrs no claims!
I know a 1990 is a bit recent perhaps but was under impression from owners I've spoken to when looking for this car that it can be available. Any advice welcome and oh yes - What a Motor!

The online systems are invariably useless for classic insurance. There is no problem in principle getting a limited mileage agreed value policy for a 635CSi. You just need to try a broker who knows an appropriate underwriter.
Just a few to try, but as I say, don't faff about online, ring them up

Used to have the headlight wash with wipers on my old E30 325i Sport and they were renowned for seizing up solid (along with the little wiper blades splitting!).Have to say though, unlike the later simple high pressure spray systems that seem to empty your washer fluid without actually doing much cleaning, the earlier wiper version does a good job of cleaning the headlights and if it were Me, rather than just removing them, I'd get them working again (may well need new wiper motors but it is worth it! - It's a beautiful car and not having the wash/wipe on it is the start of neglect as I see it!
)Another vote for RH Classic Insurance. Their definition of classic appears to be more than 10 years old.
Have my 635 on a classic policy (along with a few others) at £159 a year for any driver over 30 and unlimited mileage. Looks like the 635 might have to go though, as I'm running out of space having just got a Porsche 968! Anyone interested, let me know.

It's actually a poverty spec E23 728i,so does not have all the goodies that the larger engined cars have. It is my daily hack so that means less things to go wrong. The BBS bodykit makes it look like the 635 csi until you go round the back.
I would personally reccomend Hagerty. The only insurance company I would ever recommend and I have been with most.
The only company that actually were a pleasure when something went wrong and someone wrote my P&J off, they do agreed valuations and probably the cheapest around.
I was paying only 160 a year for an Esprit Turbo and 911 Carrera on a joint policy. Agreed value between the two of 35k.
Also had a 1979 924 which was 35 quid a year and also a TVR S1 which was 90 quid a year- Chameleon paint (TVR) along with a cosworth engine conversion and big brakes etc which didnt add a penny to my policy.
The ones PH seem to favour are a bunch of cowboys too

I've owned a number of late 80's - early 90's BMW's over the last 10 years. Some insured as 'classics', some not. I had my current M535i on a classic policy until my most recent renewal. I now have a regular policy with Flux, earning NCD, for the same premium as last years classic policy, circa £150 inc breakdown - less than its annual road tax!
