Chrome plating around Leicester area.
Discussion
I'm looking for a chrome plater ideally in the Leicester area for some of my old Mercedes parts. I've googled it and picked up a few names from old TR threads, but I'd prefer a more up to date recommendation from someone with first hand experience of a company. Any pointers are appreciated.
Based only on my personal experience of sourcing parts for my classic Jaguar bumpers etc, I suggest that you try the following company in Walsall. Definitely worth the trip from Leicester for the quality and long life from their process. This company has a long history, back to the days when this part of the West Midlands was this Countries plating bedrock.

".....but you can cover it in glitter." Yes RichB, it's probably what Leicester needs. Thanks for those two recommendations so far chaps. The Derby site looks good, my parts have dinks in them and some aren't straight, so I'm hoping to find 'that guy' who can do it all.

I've heard that Derby plating are one of the best in the country, not cheap, but do a high end job. I should be picking up some chromed parts from them this week for my DB2/4, so can report back if you want, but it would be better to speak to people who have had work done a few years ago to see if teh plating has stood the test of time
The chrome fumes have got to them. The turnaround not the slickest. Not the cheapest either. But the quality is fantastic. Had automotive and bathroom fittings done. Chrome lustre as good as the day it was replated.

Yes, please report back Nigel. I'm restoring a '69 Pagoda Merc and was thinking a bit of elbow grease and Autosol might be enough to make the old parts good enough for the incoming painted bodyshell, but one thing led to another and now nipping down the road to the nearest local guy won't do. Your info will help.
i had all the chrome for my car done by derby. not only did they straighten bumpers etc the depth of shine is superb, this includes the mazak items which where in horrible condition. i had another batch done by a well known firm in the west country and it is not the same quality. you will have to wait for derby, but it is worth while.
