K series cooling

Hi. I have a caterham supersport engined midget which I fitted last year.
It had been in a track caterham and had the stat removed ( the centre part sawn off)
The bypass was blanked, so all flow was going to radiator at all times.
It runs too cool on the road, and too hot when racing.
I read ( but can't post ) on blatchat about a cooling mod, but can't see what it is?
I have fitted a stat with 2 4mm holes in the top od the ring. Will this be enough?
I'm interested in your advice offered

I run a PRRT modded system on my track Caterham. Means it warms up quickly, maintains constant temps during track use and according to my data logging is a lot more stale than without a stat or with a stat. I have no heater, and have taken out the bypass. Works a treat, Fergus on here also uses the same system. Mines a 200bhp 1.8, dry sumped, not road registered.
I have no issues filling the system and just don't get airlocks, I have a Radtec alloy radiator and oil,cooler, which is more than adequate and it does have a bleed screw which probably helps with the air bleed when filling.
I run an oil cooler too, which is a stat controlled version, but I'm fairly sure I could run with out. However track days in the French summer can be a bit warmer, however again logging shows even after 8 laps of Mugello in 23 degrees + I'm still only getting to mid 80's max. However I like the additional volume of oil.
The choices seem to involve remote stat from QED, PRRT (82 degree version), no stat or std stat. PRRT works for me. If you google it there are some great pieces written about its advantages.

I have a 200bhp 1.8 K in my 7. It has an oil to water intercooler but I don't think it makes a huge difference to water temps, just gets the oil warmer quicker (which was the point of it). It also has the lower set stat in it which I think did make a difference to cooling and a fan that kicks in reliably.
I'm guessing, however, that the size of the Midget engine bay and other factors (coolant capacity, rad size etc) might have more bearing on your install?
Keeping these well bled seems to be a major key to keeping temps sensible...
