Got it home, went for a burn yesterday but only brief for various reasons. My mk1 is here too this weekend, that's had the Manthey upgrade. I think the RS needs it too. Will have a think. Cracking car though, I just love the way they look. I'll upload a picture of them together tomorrow.

You've got a point there! I'll probably leave it. I do love it. It his feels like its made out of kryptonite! In a good way. Only upgrade its definitely getting is the alcon brakes, they are miles better than the steels from factory.
JZM said the car was lovely example, it needs the air con sorted as that's leaking but apart from that its good to go.
Just got to wait for the 991 now.

Russ at JZM gave me the brake option when I bought mine but I wanted it standard as I'm not tracking it. JZM know what they are looking at so their verdict is worth tons. Keep it standard and just enjoy the razor sharp precise handling of the RS in standard form. Not many cars have that. Many congrats

Have to add that the 996 RS looks far better in the flesh than it does in pics .

That's true. Its amazing how nice it looks actually, especially as the 996 isn't in itself a good looking base car.

The biggest difference in my 996 RS over my 997 gt3 ( and I liked my 997) is the turn in. You only have to think about it and you've turned! Quite amazing

Just a plain old C2 but with almost every RS part on it apart from the engine and box. A tad more focused to be fair.

Wish I hadn't sold my 2.7 now. Would have been great to have had that together with this modern lot.

Congratulations on your purchase. I've been lucky enough to drive many 911 variants and in my opinion your car represents the pinnacle in the 911 as a true driver's car.

I sincerely hope that you enjoy it. I wager that you will like your 991 but in 5 years time your 996 will still be in your garage bit the 991 won't.

Not sure that is a fair wager to PistolP - I think you will win that one fairly easily.

Different cost, different ethos, plenty of 991 GT3's being made, 991 GT3 RS imminent, 991.1 GT3 in 2015, 991.2 GT3RS in 2016 & the lad likes the older stuff as evidenced by his recent acquisitions and desire to own.

Must be mad. It is quicker I suppose but I just can't get excited about these newer shaped cars.

Sure it will be fun for the winter and you can get back in a classic in the spring.

The 2.7 is a good car and is historically very significant but as a dynamic driving experience I think that the 996RS and all of the other 996GT3's are more significant cars.

As a driving tool, I'd take a 996GT3 all day long over a 2.7. As for the looks, to me they are subjective and do not effect the driving experience at all for the serious driver. I could never get the costume jewellery looks thing. On saying that i wouldnt say that the car in the first picture of this thread is ugly at all.
