A serious proposal
Discussion
We have all been reading over the past year or so of a number of problems that we have had with our cars.
Frankly I cannot understand how a company with such a prestigious brand can fail to have a corporate policy that deals with these problems in an efficient and equitable manner.
I therefore propose that we draw up a letter to send to Aston Martin with all our names on asking them why they do not treat their customers with the respect they have the right to expect.
Without going into too much detail it is unforgivable for a customer who has purchased a new car to be treated in the way that Ed and Bob amongst others have.
As for the other known problems that appear to be common to many cars e.g. Blistering paintwork well that should be a matter of fair negotiation given the range of varying circumstances of ownership,in that some cars may have been serviced correctly and garaged whilst others might have been thrashed.
When I purchased my car from Grange I was aware of the blistering paintwork and that was repaired f.o.c.
Thankfully I have not had any thing serious go wrong apart from a whining side window that I paid for myself to have rectified.
To be fair these are cars and things will go wrong ,we must accept that but when a problem is common to many cars Aston Martin should acknowledge that .
Anyway if my idea makes any sense to you then someone draw up an appropriate letter and let us see their response.

When Pearl was purchased new in June I experienced a lot of problems which have been well documented on this forum. The biggest was the gearbox. I bypassed my dealer and contacted Customer Service at AM . I am very happy to report that I have been treated with great courtesy and professionalism . Subsequent problems have been resolved by Bamford Rose. A number of weeks ago I received a CSI Questionnaire from AM , I'm afraid my very negative response to a lot of the questions prompted a very quick reaction from them. They requested a meeting, listened to my tales of woe and offered to help. Pearl is to be picked up and taken to Newport Pagnell in the next couple of days to resolve a couple of things which are not the fault of the car or the build. In other words ASTON MARTIN do value me as a customer , did listen to my complaints and are now going to some length and expense to ensure that I am a happy owner.
To conclude, I would not advocate sending a group letter, simply contact customer service at AM . It worked for me!

Problems such as paint bubbles are so common place that it's not a matter for individual negotiation, it's the paint warranty that is not worth the paper it's written on. 'Features' of the marque such as condensation in the headlamps/tail lamps etc. have affected many.
These are all well documented gripes that are mishandled by AM as a matter of policy. If your suggestion is that all those affected send this letter to highlight our annoyance then I think it will be worthwhile. But don't forget, these issues are common for all owners from 55 plate onwards.
A handful of new or nearly new owners have had some problems. If the 'letter' is focused only on those problems then your list of names will be a lot shorter.

I apologise for my rather rambling introduction last night.
It was posted at the end of a hard day's work .
It was simply that I was concerned that it appeared to me that Aston Martin did not appear to have a cohesive complaints policy and that we might suggest that when problems arose they would be dealt with in a fashion that would be fair and efficient i.e. No smoke and mirrors or weasel words.
It is not my intention that the letter should be aggressive or patronising but civil and constructive perhaps accompanied by a couple of cases where owners had not been treated in a reasonable fashion to highlight our concerns.
I assume that if a large group of owners combined they would take it seriously.

Someone somewhere has got to know the answer to this Steven. You may have missed it but I suggested not so many days ago that AML through their global dealerships, request a 'factory fault' list be emailed to them on a monthly basis. Applicable to all cars within the 3 year warranty period, they could then identify all repeat faults, enabling the cause to be rectified at source, pleasing their accountants and doing wonders for their reputation. It was posted at the end of a hard day's work .

What was that,,,oh,,,right,,could be,,,my cynical side just whispered to me,,,"Sales targets, bonuses".

There are about 70 owners going to Burghley next year. If the correspondance to AM is dignified, constructive and inclusive of those owners and all their collective experiences, I would expect a lot of wet signatures.
Just a suggestion.
Wouldn't it seem a shame to spend the day collecting signatures and spouting negativity, when instead you could spend it enjoying the event and celebrating the marque? Life's too short, fix your Astons and enjoy them! Just a suggestion.

No negativity from me and no reason not to enjoy one's car.
This is a positive and constructive proposal to work together with a company we wish to see prosper and continue making some of the most attractive cars on the road.
Last month I had very poor service from a main dealer when my wife's car needed a repair.
I shall not being going back to them.
As a retailer I have a set procedure for dealing with customer's complaints and they are dealt with efficiently and to the customer's satisfaction.
I am not speaking here about a few moaning Minnie's who seek to find fault everywhere.
Several times a year I have conversations with my suppliers and give them feedback and constructive criticism.
Those that listen and adapt prosper and get more of my business.

Well I for one hope you'll change your mind Lewis. Burghley is a magnificent stately home, pretty central geographically and easy to get to (A1 runs along the western boundary of the estate grounds). I cannot think of a better venue more apropriate to host what looks like being the largest gathering of PH forum owners ever, if not certainly for 2014. "Come on, think!! There must be something wrong with your car. THINK!!"

+1 Bob.
But I thought my response would have been at least worthy of a reply,I'm putting a lot of effort into Burghley and
many other proposed projects for everyones hopeful enjoyment so I did find this out of character post more than
a little deflating.
Come on Yeti you are the spirit of this forum don't loss faith now........
