Saw this band live at one of the festivals and thought they were a bit weird - but interesting.

I downlaoded their new album - not bad. I like some of the songs so far - although there doesn't seem to be much variety. Some of the intrumentals are good.

I don't get the hype surrounding these girls. To me they sound like a Shania twain tribute act. Is it a case of emperors new clothes or nature abhorring a vacuum?

I saw a 'news' article that they were top of the album chart, had a search on youtube and one of the songs my lads (8) sings all the time (baby, don't save me) and it's quite catchy. Might give the album a go, although at 40+ years old, not sure I'm the target market.

The way they sings their songs live it both interesting and annoying.

I could be tempted to see them live.

I feel a bit like a 19 year old girl but I'm enjoying the hell out of this. 1/2 Shania, 1/2 XX.

Utter crap IMHO.

Heard them live on the tv, couldn't sing for kittens, nor did they have any clarity in the faster vocal parts.

More NME hype to try and push 'the next big thing'.

Have to agree mate. Over here in Oz we have Triple J which is a bit like radio 1 in its not a commercial station. Haim were album of the week last week and the utter verbal sheite and overplaying of these girls was more vacuous than usual.

I kinda like them...saw them on Jools Holland way back before the hype took hold.

But if you watch them live/on TV/Youtube watch the bassist's face...WTF?

I'm ordering their album right now.

They're not going to be remembered in any big way except for the bass player's gurning, which is world class.

Agreed, EPIC bass face!

Saw them on the Reading coverage this yr. Interesting phrasing and timings, but forgettable melodies.

I had massive expectations for this, but it's very patchy. A handful of good songs but nothing more. Oddly, the limited production they've stuck on some of the tracks ruins them for me (the wire being a case in point). Have a look at their radio1 session on YouTube - that's great. The album? Not so much.
