Successfully completed another trackday yesterday, after fixing my clutch slave failure, now am in need of some more brakes! wink

I was looking at replacing the rear set, but on looking on the net, all the rear discs are cross drilled and vented 306mm, whereas mine are currently 306 mm solid discs. Have they been upgraded and mine are really old, or has my car got the wrong ones fitted?

I'd also know if people use CL5+ pads as I've heard they are very good?

Your rears are the original style. The cross drilled ones aren't great. Brummie on here commissioned some replacement solid discs and is the cl supplier.

I've used CL 5+ pads for several years now including many trackdays. I would thoroughly recommend them.
Work from cold, no more dust then any other pad type and don't eat rotors.
I also use CL325 Racing Brake fluid which is far superior to standard for trackdays.
Get them from Paul Chance at www.carbonelorrainebraking.co.uk (Brummmie on here).

Why are the x drilled not great? My original fronts are very worn and still have no cracking, gone a bit blue after yesterday, so are also on the list for replacing. Would have thought AP Racing x drilled discs to be good?

But is that from poor quality discs or poor maintainance as bikes always have x drilled discs and I've never seen cracked discs but have seen cracked solid discs!

It is from having the hole in the first place.. The hole causes the cracking. Bikes are a little different as far less energy required to stop one.

The 'Tuscan s' cheapo heavy single piece front and rear drilled discs. Don't know who makes them. Would suggest the rear drilled one's are ok but the fronts aren't v good in my experience.
I have them on the rear and 330 Ap's on the front. Stops really well.

Problem is, I don't have the luxury of using 330mm discs as I only have 4 bolt calipers frown

I have 3 sets of rear discs left, when they are gone they are gone, at least until another group buy situation, but that will be some years to come i reckon, as whomever wanted a set has a set.

Drilled discs are more prone to cracking, any decent disc manufacturer does not make them any longer, holes also lower the thermal capacity of the brake system as you have less metal.

Cheers All thumbup

I'll be ringing you again, for a full set of CL5+ 's, this week, I might have a set of rear discs, if the price is right wink, wish I could force some bigger discs under my front calipers! Is it wrong to use an angle grinder for clearance on the calipers?
