The bristol potholes have buckled my alloy. Does anyone have experiences of the heat treatment wheel straightening? It's a cheaper option than a new wheel, but I'm concerned it won't be a 100% fix and will significantly weaken the wheel...grateful for feedback!

I'd be wary of it, there's no way you can be sure the wheel hasn't lost its original strength.

What about finding a used wheel from eBay or a breaker's rather than buying a new one?

If it's something cheap and readily available, then get a different wheel.

If it's something rare that you're prepared to put decent money in to get properly repaired, then someone like Ian Jemison could do it.

If it's just a bit of a bent rim I straighten them using,
  • 4 lb lump hammer
  • Block of wood (for use as a drift between wheel and hammer)
Works a treat.
