Driving home on the M25 on Tuesday evening I was in the outside lane of the two lane section where it meets the M11. I was overtaking a lorry when in my rear view mirror I saw an Audi A8 approacjing me at a great rate of knots, he was driving like his trousers were on fire. As soon as I was past the lorry I pulled over to the inside lane. Mr A8 shot past me well in excess of the speed limit and continued until he came upon the next person in the outside land, whereupon he drove just inches from their bumper. After a while of this he pulled into the middle lane (now in the 3 lane section) whereupon he undertook before cutting back in with inches to spare. As soon as he did this a small blue light appeared on the car that was now behind him. They must have heard my shouts of "Oh yes" So often twats like this seem to get away with it that this episode thoroughly made my day. I just hope he had enjoyed a large liquid lunch that day as well!

This has happened to me twice. The first time it was a youngish guy in a Volvo T5 who undertook me at speed in full view of a marked car.

The second time a young girl in an Astra tailgating me. I pulled over and let her go. A few minutes later there she is sat on the hard shoulder with a marked Omega behind her. Oh how I tooted as I went by!!!!

Good post oldred....

I see many things like that when working the unmarked video car and wonder how many of the other drivers appreciate it when the numpties get stopped...

Not to condone this chaps driving, but playing Devil's Advocate, if you were undertaken then shirly(1) you were in the wrong lane?

Why?

Shirley if someone simultaneously clips your rear bumper and the front bumper of the car you are passing as they cut into the already dangerously insufficent breaking space the car you are passing has left himself (so precluding you from pulling in even if you weren't about to pass the next car) before simultaneously clipping your front bumper and the rear of the bumper of the next car you are about to pass before robbing you of any semblance of breaking distance means that, shirley, you ARE in the right lane?

I still worry that Road Policing will suffer even more cutbacks...

Listening to a load of colleagues yesterday during a meal break; and the feeling was that it might end up worse than it is now...

Very bleak thoughts...

Get writing to your MPs and Chief Constables....You want more traffic police.

You kidding???

Ever since I got my crappy car and my anti-robot equipment I have the freedom to drive how I like and no-one is there to stop it. Since the only punishable road traffic offense is speeding now and I am totally immune, bring on the lasers

Sad thing but some people must REALLY think like the above...

Of course it will get worse. It will go something like.....

The Constabulary for NumptyShire has a target of road policing crimes to hit. They can do it the cheap way (fill the roads with cameras) or the expensive way (fill the reads with trafpol).

The important thing is the Chief Constable doesn't give a toss whether the policing is effective or not. All he (she ?) cares about are the targets being met and the budget.

So they'll go for the cheap ones.

The MP won't care either (if a Govt MP) because the pols can stand up in Parliament and tout their targets.

Whistleblowers II is next week (Whistleblowers I was about airport security) WII is about rail maintenance. I can tell you what it'll be ; written policies and targets and systems which aren't implemented, but it is pretended that they are.

I'm just throwing another perspective into the debate.

If he drove as you say then he was definitely a dangerous bar steward. I'm just highlighting that perspectives vary.

I said I didn't condone the driving but people get frustrated on the roads, leading them to do things like this and its something we need to be aware of.

Oh yes, I like to see that sort of twerp getting collared, and I would have thought most drivers would feel much the same. Good stuff, more please.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

He was in Lane 1 doing 40 mph, I was in overtaking him in Lane 2 doing 50MPH (limit was 50MPH). Marked car was 2 behind me.

I got past him and was just starting to think about moving across, I look over my left shoulder and here he comes rocketing past me (estimate about 60-65), I let him undertake and pull into Lane 1 to watch the marked car set off after him. 1 mile down the road they are both on the hard shoulder.

Not sure what else if anything I could have done different.

I did with the girl in the Astra. The BiB sensed what I was doing as he gave me a big smile. Result!
