At least it hasn't got a Multichronic gearbox! hehe

Having run an 03 FWD A6 for over 9 years and 120k, I never really fell in *love* with it (chronic understeer and three expensive gearbox failures) but then it doesn't look anywhere near as good as this example!! Enjoy!

Stunning. Can't imagine walking out to one of these monsters every morning smile Slightly less enthusiastic about the idea too after reading the horror threads on here about them.. hope you have many problem free miles out of yours!

Mrs C has just taken it to the shops.
Under strict instructions to park it well away from other cars!

Fingers crossed, I've read the stories and am fully prepared in case it goes tits up...
The tvr and lotus have both thrown up some rather large bills so I'm use to my wallet getting a hammering!

Does anyone find it weird that this generation of A6 isn't seen very much?

I see shed loads of newer A6 models on the roads and loads of the older ones (That look like a Skoda Octavia) but I never see any of these ones with the TT-Style rear boot lid.

E39's are 10 a penny but for some reason I never see these

Is it just me?

What are running costs like on these? Are we talking M5 costs?

I'm at 18.3mpg brim to brim currently.
VED c£270
Insurance not even £100 more pa over a 330d

They just sound lovely

Discs fronts seem to be £250 each rears c£200 each not sure about pads.

Cambelt every 4 years or 40k revised down from 7 years 70k by Audi.

Then you start to get into age related repairs/things perishing.

Nope! My guess is that many have reached a point where they are uneconomic to repair. Gearbox aside, my 2.4l petrol A6 03 has just had its aircon compressor fail. It'd be more to repair it than the car's worth. Next big bill looms and mine's no more!!! Older are probably more reliable and younger haven't gone seriously wrong yet!

Have you liked into sourcing a used air con compressor, might be worth considering.

Excellent, have owned one before and am currently on the lookout for another. Despite all the bad press, in my ownership it only needed fuel (lots of) and servicing. I'm sure you'll love it. Great colour too, black optics would finish it off perfectly smile

What do you mean black optics?!
Thanks, wasn't sure red would suit such a large car but it really does look superb smile

He means darkening the headlight innards; bit tacky IMO but each to their own. Have always liked RS6s and the saloon version gives it a rarity factor - good choice!

Not exactly, don't think on the RS6 that it alters the headlights in any way. Black optics replaces all of the chrome for black trim, really finishes the car off imho
