ride height blistien shock
Discussion
I have standard blistiens and my car is sitting 4cm too high at the front. I can't see any adjustment or how it may be done. First question is how do you adjust the ride height? If this can't be done with standard blistiens, if I buy a pair of adjustables for the front do they need to be some brand etc? (Heard it is not wise to replace fronts only and do all 4.?)
I converted my Billies to height adjustable....there are kits available (the billies have a circlip groove an inch or so up from the bottom for that reason.
but I am surprised that it is so high.
Is the length of the damper approx 360mm between bushes when off the car?

Mine is also about 40mm too high at the front compared to other Griffs! I am though in need of a damper/spring change so will be going for a fully adjustable setup. As previously stated it is a minefield, but I am going to go for the GAZ Monos. Regards, Petemagpies said:

Not sure as haven't removed. Had them on the car for the last 30k only became conscious when pointed out. Hoping to improve high speed lightness of the car by dropping down.

Mark,
I've just been playing with my ride heights as I've just had a set of Pro Tech springs and dampers fitted. The car was too low all round and scrapping the exhaust on my drive when they were first fitted and they are still not right but only minor nips and tucks to do.
I went with the Pro Techs as I never track the car and they get good reviews for the road. I know Rob also has them on his Griff.
I got a very good price buying direct, much better than the website, if you are interested in the Pro Tech route drop me a PM and I'll let you know what I paid.
Karl.

why are you saying they are too high?... measuring to what.. and what are you trying to achieve?...
And why do you think Nitrons are hard?.. mine are set softer that my Billies were but they react better in corners etc to stop the body roll....

All the cars I've been in with nitrons have been set quite hard, didn't know they could be set that soft. I can't really justify the sort of prices being asked for nitrons. One day I will get some but for now I just need a spring as good as a blistiens but ride height adjustable. Is this a problem with a new set of Bilsteins? What springs are you running? Did you get them from Blackdown Automotive?
No, no problem with blistiens they've been brilliant and I've done 15k on these. I just want to lower the car a little and they're non adjustable. They've been fantastic otherwise and coped with several trips to europe including Stelvio twice. Strongly recommend them.Enjoy it Mark.
I get my car looked after by Neil and he seems really good. I also had new drop links fitted with my springs/dampers so I have no more knocks at all from the suspension.
After he fitted mine I spent a few hours on a Saturday afternoon playing with the adjustments and setting the damping to my style.
See you next week hopefully.
Karl.

Glad it all worked out well Mark. I too used Neil to fit my protechs, took a while longer to do mine due to a seized bolt but results were worth it. Hope you are as happy with yours as I am. Little power run on a local RR tomorrow to determine the difference the tornado chip has made, should be interesting. See you next Sunday.
