I'm fostering a small obsession with this tiny Group C style racer. Has anyone ever seen one up close, driven one or built one? I can't find a great deal of info about them online.

I dont know if its still a live project tbh.

I was at Bruntinthorpe a few years ago and they were shaking down the blue/yellow car.

Pretty and well put together, R1 motor at that time.

I had that same obsession about 5 years ago - probably about the same time that they last updated their website - I couldn't get any info at that time either.

Best of luck, and if you find out anything, please post it here.

I have emailed them a couple of times over the last 12 months or so and did not get a reply. The price list on their website says 2008 on it.

The pricing on them is pretty spectacular and I love the closed cockpit look and prefer to be in a closed car.

I don't think anybody else is doing something like it for the money?

I got overtaken at Brands Hatch a few years back by a red one, had the same engine as my Sylva Phoenix but was in a different league performance wise. Not much in it on the straights, but in the bends it was insane, looked like he did not have to slow down much for them....

Still, I drove mine home via the pub and some lovely b-roads, his left on a trailer.

Totally gorgeous car, but it was really really tiny and not sure wat you could use one for other than trackdays?

I was interested to get one to use on hillclimbs.

Yes the Rotega is very nice looking car.
pity it has not sold in more numbers.

I think if you try the original designers, Loaded Gunn racing they still have some interest in the project.

Some images on Facebook on Loaded Gunn page of a Rotega getting a stonger roll over bar and upgraded engine (turbo'd bike engine)

it would be good to see one or two out on the tracks/hills etc.

Got to admit I too am quite fascinated by the Retoga. I also live a few miles from Kellforms hq in Wycombe and often tempted to call in and ask if the car is still available.

The chassis is a work of art.. But I always liked the idea of a road version and pondered the feasibility of using a less delicate chassis using donor components rather than the bespoke parts. Kind of a 'MEV' affordable approach but with the retoga bodyshell.

Moving away from its racing ideals I know ..but a project idea that I still haven't dismissed.

Hope the moulds still exist. I think it looks superb and a refreshing change from the usual open top LMP cars out there.

I realise people do things for different reasons and for me to make this into a road going version would be the goal of being unique and the fun of the build.... Although end ££ would be going into the unknown.....

It's just for me to build it for a dedicated race / track car could become disappointing when a 12k used SR3 radical flys past in the twisty bits....

I had a good look at one at a kit show a few years back, seemed a great little car and nicely designed but I tried to sit in it and at 6'4" would never have been able to drive it. Good luck to them if they're still going, but they might need a longer wheelbase version! smile

Hi All, nice to hear our Retoga is still talked about.
Unfortunately the project never really took off for us as we hoped, we did sell a couple of turnkey cars with bike engines. Everybody thought the car was wonderful and it did generate a lot of interest, but this never developed into sales. With the whole car being bespoke it all came at a price.
Drivers over 6ft would have been a bit compromised in the original car so we reworked the body and chassis to make it 100mm long. This did mean near on a complete new set of moulds. To date we haven’t manufactured a long wheel base version, although we do have 2 chassis 90% complete and the moulds ready to go!
I see a couple of you guys on the forum are very local, feel free to give me a call and come have a look and a chat (as one petrol head to another). Phone number on the website.
It was and still is a fantastic car to drive.........

Have you guys considered a 'full size' Group C type replica to compete with the Ultima? I believe someone in the UK is about to start selling P962 bodywork!
