Have your say about PistonHeads

We need you, yes you, to help us with the future of PH

Here at PHHQ we are always thinking of the next development or addition to the site, many hours are spent hunched around Matt Dell's ZX81 with hot mugs of tea as we strive to be the best we can. That said, it's all too easy to think we've got it right when the reality is a million miles away. That same conundrum occurs with all aspects of the site from news to how we make revenue; it's a tricky balance, and that's where you come in.

We are looking to recruit a 'PH Board' comprising a great mix of PH readers. You might be a long-term poster, a lurker, a lover of the classifieds, a reader of news or just a casual browser but your opinions count. To be eligible all you need to have is a passion for PH (or at least care about it enough to pass comment) and want to help shape the way we do things moving forward. We don't want nodding dogs, we want members who will challenge our thinking and help us make the right decisions.

How will it work? Well, in a variety of ways. Sometimes we'll email you with some visuals for comment, sometimes we'll chat in a special 'board' forum and sometimes we'll invite you to attend a brief meeting here at PHHQ or maybe ahead of a Sunday Service.

If you fancy being considered for the board all you need to do is email me (marking your email PH Board) and tell us why you think you'd be an asset. If your career means you have useful skills, tell us as it's all important... but far from essential. In return you will help shape the future of the site and we'll make sure you are rewarded with a few perks along the way too.

We look forward to hearing from you and hope to get back to you all within the next few weeks.

I'd agree with that. Hopefully we'll get a panel which consists of grumpy PHers saying "don't change anything" ahead of every suggestion! hehe

With the exception of an Android app to make for a better mobile foruming experience.

Other than that, leave it as it is! smile

I think the vast majority of us do also, but its good to see members being given the opportunity to give their impartial views in a more structured enviroment, as well as the continuing threads on the forums.
A surprising move from Haymarket, but a welcome one.
Application submitted :-)

Fix the old search function and allow some new forum splits, but apart from that it's the perfect message board system.

I think it's important you have your say, it's a PH thing not a Haymarket one smile

Don't forget that PH is more than forums (much more) and we will want to talk to you about merchandise to the member sign up process, revenue ideas to redesigns, editorial to events...forums will be a part but the board will discuss the site as a whole.

I want to enhance the site a bit, we just need to work out how that looks and what is required/ useful

If we make a wishlist here it will get confused and will also take the thread off-topic so I'd like to avoid that if possible...for now at least.

Henry Ford famously eschewed this process, reasoning that if he asked his customers what they wanted, they'd say a FASTER HORSE

I have to echo other posters' sentiments; it's great at the moment smile the only thing in need of change IMO is a smoother mobile site smile

And effectively, that's what he gave them.

Steve Jobs believed that people didn't know what they wanted and it was up to him/Apple to provide something that they wanted. He got it right too.

I'd be interested in this position. Hopefully I'd be able to bring something to the role...

Goes against my naturally aloof tendencies to apply for anything... wink

Another vote for improved search function and updated forum splits, fine otherwise.

I wrote a PH Widget last year. PM'd Stuart about permission to put it on the Play store a couple of times and didn't get any reply so gave up on the idea.
