Hi

Trying to understand the operation of the heating vents in the car and a bit lost

When asking for heat, I only get heat out of the two window vents and never any warm air out of the dash board/ under dash vents is this correct?

It is, Cold air only from those.

Yep as zippee says, set to hot the air comes from the screen vents only when set to cold its the dash vents only. If its set to cold and you have warm air bleeding though the screen vents then the heater flap position needs tweaking from the dash pod menu.

There is an option which is supposed to influence air flow by changing the opening/closing percentage of the flap guiding the flow to the vents via dash (can't remember the correct option).
Nomally the value should be around twentysomething percent. I only tinkered a bit with it, so i'm not sure on how it changes anything, really. But you could change it to higher or lower values and check if cold air is coming out of the top vents and the footwell area.

If you want warm then you get hot and cold in the hope that they somehow make warm.
