Hi all, the rubber door seal has started to come away from the door on my Golf. Does anyone know how easy/ costly it is to repair?

It doesn’t look like much on the picture, but the wind noise is noticeably louder at motorway speeds. It's purely cosmetic (unless it gets worse) so I could just turn the radio up and ignore it.

Could you glue it back down?

I'm not sure how much they'd cost from a dealer but it's the kind of thing I'd imagine is more expensive to replace than you'd think. A Kia dealer replaced both front door seals on my old Picanto in a couple of hours so I can't imagine they're difficult to do.

Maybe it's the photo but it looks like the door frame doesn't fit to me?

Once it starts to perish the best thing is probably to replace. I got new inner seals for my Fiesta from a guy in Kent who makes new ones for about £50 for both doors as mine were letting water in. I can dig out the website address if you like.

Unless your Golf is super old you can probably get new VW ones.

Yea, it's definitely worth a try. Any ideas what to use though - super glue?

I see what you mean! The angle of the picture makes it look a lot worse than it actually is.

I am a bit worried that it's going to get worse soon.

For gluing anything to anything car related as long as you NEVER want to remove it Polyurethane (sikaflex, Tiger seal etc) is the stuff to use.

Approx 8 / tube and it goes off within a few months once opened.

That picture look like someones had a go at trying to prise open the door. and its sitting a bit bent outwards.

My brothers car had this problem, wind down the window, open the door and bend back the window frame until it sits properly. Its free. smile

I though that too.

If you're really careful and position your knee midway up the inside of the door you can bend it back again - did it with a neighbours Cavalier once after it had been prised back during a break in. Looked like nothing had happened.

Yep and make sure the window's down though!!!!
