Moike is in slumber. Nipped the offside wheel bearing (that was fine). Had to bleed the brakes loads of air all done, tucked up in bed for 6 months ready for the next rusty nail run.

Totally agree too clap
I bought my 390 to use ALL year round and in winter (roof off obviously biggrin ) it's Fcensoredg freezing as it has no heater whatsoever !!! The previous owner decided to get rid of it and in place put all the stereo power amp wires etc. !!!
I just simply wrap with loads of layers smile
So come on everyone, stop SORNing your tvr's and use them all year round biggrin

My take is that I believe things are better off with a bit of regular use otherwise things start to seize up and stop working. Lay the car up for winter then come spring you spend the first couple of weeks fettling and fixing. smile mine will be staying on the road to take advantage of any bright clear days that come my way biggrin

Use mine all year round, some of my best drives have been on cold / crisp sunny days.
These cars kept in garages for months on end do them no good.

The way I see it as it has an MOT for the year and insurance for the year might as well get some value out of it!

I am keeping the wedge on the road for the winter and SORNing the S. Unfortunately it gets pretty murky on the West Coast of Scotland in the winter, the crisp clear days are far outnumbered by the freezing cold p!ssing wet ones!

Anyone had this and is it legal??

Bewise have told me that Allianze,( with whom my chim is insured with full comp), that they dont do 3rd party F & T! Which is lovely except I asked for it to be put as F & T only.....so they write back and say..........

Good Afternoon.
Thank you for your recent email.
Please be advised that your insurer only provides three types of insurance, Comprehensive, Third Party and Third Party Fire & Theft.
As previously advised to amend your current policy to a Third Party Fire & Theft cover the insurance policy becomes an unacceptable risk to your insurer. Therefore should you wish to amend your policy to a Third Party Fire & Theft, your current policy will need to be cancelled and an alternative policy will provided.
Please contact our office to discuss how you would like to proceed with the policy.
Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our office via email or by telephone on the number below.
Kind Regards
Michelle Murphy

So they "offer" 3 types of Ins, full, 3rd party and 3rd party F & T. Then she says they dont???
Doing my effin head in.

I think what the insurance company is saying is that the old policy has to be cancelled and a new one issued because of the change to the type of insurance required. In some cases the underwriters may be different as not all underwriters provide TPT. Consequently, they would cancel your existing full comp and provide you with TPT possibly from a different underwriter. Naturally they would refund you the remainder of your existing policy.

As for putting the car on SORN, it's something I never do. I pay insurance for the whole year and have MOT for the whole year, so by putting on SORN for a few months is neither here or there. Anyway, there's nothing like taking your Wedge out on a sunny, cold, crisp day and driving it with the top down, wearing only your vest. You should try it sometime. It's like taking a cold shower. So refreshing.

Some insurers are now charging more for TPFT than for Fully Comp! That may be one reason. The other reason being they are hamstrung by their own fkwitted procedures, I wouldn't deal with them again next year if I were you (thanks for the heads up too).

Well lets face it. What's the point in spending all that time and effort in the gym if your not going to drive your Wedge wearing just your vest on a cold winters morning, and let the ladies stare with envy. Surely that is an important part of owning a Wedge.

Flapper + 32'F = permanent crackles and bangs, upshifts as well as downshifts, 5krpm on the upshift = shotgun, and all from something virtually unmodified since it left the factory. Good sightlines on interesting roads (none of that pesky greenery) and very few day-trippers, where's the issue with winter driving? On dry days with no salt of course!

Although slippery tyres below 50'F is a problem frown
