I have a 10 year old pair of B&W 802 and there is an offer running where you can trade-in your old speakers at original purchase price for a new pair from the diamond range.

Anyone here used this offer?

Anyone here upgraded from 802 to 802d?

No but probably explains how the 802N holds onto value so well!

I've been offered 5K for them and they aren't perfect. Paid 6k over 10 years ago.

I rather like my N802 and had no intention of ever changing them but the 802D do look very tempting. I wonder if the Mrs will notice if I get them swapped out smile

More to the point, do the D2's sound better in your room with your system?

Were you offered £5k trade-in?

I've got an immaculate set of 802Ns that I was considering 'moving on'...!

Yes £5k against the £11,500 for the 802Ds. I was told I would have got more if I had kept the original packing boxes. Normally 802N's seems to go for £2500.

So really, it can be seen as getting £2500 off a pair of new 802D's.

I suspect I would be better off going bi-amp than getting the 802D's though. I did a demo of single vs bi-amp on my 802's many years ago and the difference was astonishing.

Hmmm... I'm not sure that the upgrade to 802Ds are worth £6500 over the 802s at all.

Funnily enough I went from single amp to bi-amping mine a few months ago, and yes, it made a significant difference for not much more cash. I got the local high-end specialist hi-fi dealer to convert my biwire cables with new terminations for about £50 from memory.

Wish I could find them that cheap. More like 3.5k from the usual second hand sources.

Keep your eyes peeled - there are regularly pairs coming up for around £2700.

Personally, I'm looking for 800N's in cherry with silver bases - not really got the money but I'm sure I'll find it once the time comes.

I've got some of the first 802D's which I bought in 2006.

I'd agree that you'd be better spending money on amplification....when I bought mine I demo'd various amps the difference was amazing. Have always wanted to try the upgrade but never got round to it. I have a Dynavector HX 1.2 which I am very happy with.

Haven't heard fram B&W on the upgrade offer.......
