This might be a fun one.
A friend is looking to buy a first car. She wants it to be:
- "not too big"
- look good/maybe a bit special
- do well in corners
She likes cars. It is a seed that needs some watering, so what shall I hook her up with? She spoke about a 147, but I don't know much about them. She came up with this ad, which doesn't look too bad on first sight, but what else can PH come up with? Can't really think of something good.
Budget is €4000 which makes £3300.

Correct me if I am wrong but it looks like it's a 2002 car with 138,000km on the clock.
Not sure what used car prices are like in Belgium but if that was in the UK it would be worth about £1500
They are great little cars, good engine, nice handling but they need to have been well looked after.
The cambelt is due approx every 4 years or 57,000km and is a ticking time bomb if it has not been done.
Suspension will also have needed to have had a refresh at that sort of milage. Front wishbones, upper and lower, anti-roll bar bushes and rear trailing arms will all have needed changing. Listen for knocking or squeaking noises.
The radiator will also likely need to have been replaced as they suffer with rust.
Electrics can also be a weak point so check and double check that everything is working!

Oh, and you'd a pretty nice GTV for that money - and they're lovely cars to drive (and quite rare)

yeah good choice for a first car that, 3.0 V6! http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

Well, an MX5 is not out, but with the Belgian supply you get old and worn-out examples which is not ideal. It can be a small 2-seater, but not >2 litres unfortunately. The 147 from the advert is indeed not cheap, but it is a great spec and prices are always higher compared to what you lot have.
