London helicopter charter
Discussion
Hello guys
I'm a long standing member here, have just created a new account as what I'm planning will be a big surprise and can't let the old cat out the bag.
Anyone got a good contact that could sort me out a night flight certified twin engine chopper for a hour on Tuesday the 5th November?
Looking to go for a bit of a London sight seeing flight, watch the fireworks and pop "the question"
At the mo the best quote I have is about £3,000 which seems a little steep but will pay it if I can't find better
Thanks

If "the question" is the one I think it is, then £3,000 an hour for the helicopter hire will seem like small change compared to the rest of the transaction. Anyway, OP you could always give Arena Aviation a call. I'm slightly biased as I work with them from time to time, and they're nice chaps. i'm not sure how many of their aircraft are instrument rated though, which is needed for night flying, but some of them are as they do a lot of television and film work.
I would expect the going rate to be around £1,200 - £1,500 per hour (for a twin Squirrel sized aircraft), that's from engine on to engine off, so includes the time idling on the apron etc.

Don't want to rain on your parade, But, fireworks do not look more impressive from above. Infact they can be positively disappointing.
Sorry.
In addition to which, you would have to assume that, on 5 Nov, there is a 50% possibility of poor met.Sorry.
A night flight over London in clear viz can be superb - check this out

But, there's a huge difference in cost between a VFR Single (which can fly up and down the heli lanes in daylight), and an IFR Twin (Squirrel 355, AW109, etc).
Best to make enquiries with the surrounding operators depending on what suits you -Redhill, Biggin, Denham, Elstree, Fairoaks, etc. Or, better still, post the question here

I've found this, seems reasonable and despite being for only 35 mins I'm sure that's long enough

Thanks a million for the kind words, she has been pestering me for years so hopefully she says yes lol.
Got quite a night planned, helicopter ride into and around London, dropping us off at battersea helipad, off to the hotel to get ready and a late night meal up the shard (oblix) and then back to the hotel.
Staying here too, which overlooks the helipad/river
