Isn't that a sort of hand throttle rather than a choke? It can't be a choke in the traditional sense anyway as it's a diesel.

Thats not a choke, I think you are refering to idle speed for when you use winches etc..

My mum has a 99 Nissan Patrol with a 4.5 carb engine. Can't be many cars later than that with a carb but there probably are still some on sale in certain markets.
