996.2 GT3 - cage and spoilers

Continuing to look, lurk and learn about these cars.... today's questions:

- Was the Tequipment cage ever a factory option on the GT3? Or - if it was fitted as new - would it just have been a dealer option?

- and is there any variation on the gen 2 rear spoilers? Obviously a difference between gen 1 and 2 but I thought all gen 2 rear spoilers are the same? I've been told that there are differences at least in terms of the OEM part numbers available

Tequipment cage was a factory option on Comfort models and is reflected on the option sticker/ build sheet. I think most Tequipment parts (including cage) were also available through the dealers (including for non-GT3 models).

Gen 2s spoilers come in two varities- RS, the flat carbon wing with end plates fitted to the RS models, and non-RS, the body coloured narrower wing fitted to Comfort and Club Sport models.

I thought I was being told there were two gen 2 non RS wing types.... Or I just misunderstood!

Nope, only 2 non-RS Gen 2 wings outside of the aftermarket (and of course excluding the Cup wing).

The only other detail to note around oe spoilers is that there is a Porsche Motorsport part for the non-RS wing which changes its angle of attack. The kit basically consists of two expensive red wedges that fit to the spoiler supports to which the wing blade mounts, and change the angle of the mounting face accordingly. They are available in +4 degree and +8 degree versions. I have only ever seen these once. They are kind of cool.

Not quite, though IIRC it was possible to special order the RS rear wing on late production cars and a few out there did come with them from the factory (rather than being retrofitted afterwards as is the case with most that you will see).
