Hi guys, long time lurker first time posting!

I got home from work yesterday to find the police had knocked on my door while I was at work, and apparently they want to talk to me about a complaint someone has made about my car, its an ep3 civic type r, not silly loud or anything, just an induction kit.

What I can't understand is what anyone could of complained about, for the past 2 weeks all I have used the car for is the morning commute back for forth to work and have not been driving silly, I couldn't of due to traffic anyway! For the rest of the time I've been driven by friends anywhere I've been.

They wouldn't say to my mother (who was at home at the time) what the complaint was about, where it was made or when. But asked me to report to a police station within 21 days I think it was.

Just curious to see if anyone else has had this before? And what to expect when I go? Getting a bit worried about what it was about! Could it just have been someone reported me for a laugh, and then im going to get penalized for it?

Also I know this should of been posted in speed, plod and the law but due to my account not being 14 days old I couldn't of! Sorry about that!

Appreciate the help, Thanks.

Just go and see, its highly unlikely they can do you for anything. Unless they have video evidence of something.

Meh, have they sent you a letter? If you honestly have no clue then I would ignore them until they found me, what possible good could come from going there? Its probably going to be some section 59 pre warning bks, mummy forgot to tell you they knocked.

Loads of posts on here which suggest that if you do go, say nothing and admit to nothing (other than owning the car maybe).

I am sure people with suitable advice will be along soon.

Get ready for your antisocial behaviour warning...

But the car is below the legal sound limit, surely they cant give an anti social behavior warning without proof?

What 'legal sound limit' are you referring to?

well I know there is no legislation about noise limits, but I presume it would be quieter than the sound test limits the police do sometimes!

The law says, in essence, that you can't make your car louder than when it was type approved, i.e. when it came out of the factory.

I doubt you are being asked to report based on noise, though it's possible, and certainly possible it'll be used against you.

Could be anything, including a car with cloned plates. More likely someone has taken umbrage at one of your manouevres. Just go and find out, they don't bite (much).

it doesn't matter anyway, if they say it's been used in a way that creates noise, that's all they need to do

So on that assumption, I could go out and report some random car on the road for driving like a lunatic, with an antisocially loud car, and then the car I reported gets a warning (well the driver)? I could report anyone. Seems like utter bullst if thats the law.

What if a group of people constantly report a car for anti social driving (despite the car not leaving the garage) as a laugh and watch while the owner gets the car taken away from them?

They'll probably just want a chat to start with - so see what's said first. It may not be noise related though - have you driven the car 'a bit fast' at all lately?

it is bullst, and it is the law

remember: you have nothing to fear, this law will NEVER be abused....

The only time I've put my foot down in the last couple of weeks was overtaking a people carrier doing 40mph on a dead straight NSL road with nothing coming the other way, will full indication.

I haven't been driving enthusiastically for a while as money is a bit tight at the moment and that means petrol is tight too.
