I bought my CLS in January this year with about 35k miles and with interior condition to reflect the mileage.
I noticed that the exhaust quite dirty atfer a few weeks of use but just kept cleaning it at was time.

In July I had one of my cars detailed and while the guy was there, he kindly washed and polished the CLS.
Back from holidays in August, I then drove the CLS to Germany, where she still is.
After trips to the US and India, CLS in the airport car park, I drove back to my apartment and notice today the exhaust are very sooty.

Could this simply be a tuning issue or should I be concerned that there maybe a bigger issue ?
She was serviced in May by MB Stoke on Trent.
I dont thrash her but has the first owner ran her on low oil or something ?

I suppose I'm in the correct country to have her checked out but wanted to ask if there are any known issues.

Thanks,
Tony.

Not sure whether it is a sign of anything odd with your car but my GL 320CDI, which I've owned from new, has always done much the same thing and the chrome is now heavily pitted.

We've reached 115k miles and so I think it might be time to treat the car to some new chrome tips!

Well that sounds like yours has been running fine then.
I did a little research last night and it seems normal.
Some cars have a particle filter which reduces it but I dont know about mine. I'll ask the MB Dealer.

Its only our second diesel so new to this but then my wifes Evoque is clean as whistle.
Cheers.

Its normal on any diesel car that doesn't have a DPF (which your Evoque will have), I really wouldn't worry!

Thats for the soothing words.
Its funny because I'm in an office in Germany right now.

Having had plenty of leg pulling over my TVR from these guys.
When I drove to Germany, one of the cables controlling the air suspension was cut through, rubbing against the bodywork.
I'm off to give them some.
Thanks.
