Datsun 240Z: Time For Tea?

Another absorbing Petrolicious film, featuring one of Japan's most iconic cars

Excellent, Petrolicious is back on form with a Datsun 240Z that's right up the PH street. The video is called 'Dare to be Different', which seems ironic given the Zee imitated the muscle car styling and engineering template. Still it's a minor criticism of a superb video.

Owner Dave Scholz describes the style of his 240Z as akin to those that belonged to guys 'that would have driven to Fuji Speedway from Yokohama for a race'. To that end, there's a few little tweaks, including a gorgeous set of RS Watanabe wheels, a Nardi wheel, Recaro seats and some T3 suspension upgrades.

The Rebello-fettled straight six is now producing around 300hp and just sounds epic. The inherent smoothness of the configuration can be detected beneath a wailing, crackling, screaming exhaust. It's glorious.

Dave also outlines his plans for preserving the 240Z, suggesting it's probably a keeper. After this video, we can easily understand why.

Great car. Had a 240Z with much modded 260 motor, triple Webers/fabricated manifold, lumpy cam etc, lovely sound and quite quick, very involving...

^^^^ This. cloud9 Then they made the 280zx hurl and it got worse. Why, oh why can't they make cars like them again?

Always wanted one of these, unfortunately (for me at least) prices appear to have been on the rise for the last year or two.

God that sounds naughty! cloud9

That retro racer style really suits the 240Z, the more I see them the more I want one.

Another superb vid from Petrolicious! If these guys could team up with Chris Harris, Top Gear would be in serious trouble!

I like that a lot.

Are those Californian back roads as good to drive as they appear to be in films/tv/internet videos?

My first car was a 260Z. Sadly, I wrote it off. A friend of mine took the wreck and did manage to get it back on the road again. Haven't seen it since 1982.

Fantastic cars !

Great video nice to see someone who loves his car warts and all

Almost my perfect car - Lovely looking 2+2 Coupe - creamy six banger running open sidedrafts - stick shift in the middle and a free breathing exhaust that goes from lumpy idle to screaming howl

I just settled for an alternative from Europe biglaugh
