What are the likely issues if I buy this car

I'm looking at buying my first Porsche - am looking for a Cayman (s) up to £25k.

I've found this http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2013... which looks great but has quite a high mileage. Can any experienced owners / people in the know clue me in to if this is a good deal or not, or of things that I should be aware of if I want to go and have a look at it?

Its best that you get a PPI really. Nobody here can appraise that car accurately from a few photos.

Being a Gen 2 it should be more robust than a Gen 1, but given the mileage a PPI including a boroscope down the bores is a must imo.

claims to have 'full black leather' which looking at the picture of the dash (and £49K new price) seems to be incorrect.

So possibly other errors in spec (like it is real PSE, or just the tips?). Plus no PCM which would put some people off (me).

Great cars, but that spec wouldn't really be for me to be honest - as to the exhaust, it's hard to see, but I don't see the button for it on the centre console - just the PSM and spoiler lift controls. Could be wrong on that score though.

Also, such a high mileage means you won't be able to warranty it after another 18,000 miles IIRC.

I bought a 115k miles six year old Boxster a few years ago in a private sale from the original owner. It was at the bottom end of the price scale for the model/year due to the mileage but it did come with around £14k worth of OPC invoices (not including tyres) that showed it had been properly looked after. The work done included not just scheduled servicing but replacement of suspension components, brakes, clutch, and a few other items that are mileage/usage sensitive. It was a great car with no significant issues in the year I owned it.

I certainly wouldn't pass this one over on the basis of mileage alone if it's been well looked after. If you're not confident in checking it out yourself then the PPI already suggested is a must.

Looks quite a 'poverty spec' car, but depends on what you want as it's cheaper because of it.

Personally I'd tag an extra 15% onto the asking price and buy a car with half the mileage and a few options ticked. But entirely your choice.

We didnt mean to put you off. It might be a good car and its certainly a reasonable price.

You just need to do your due diligence. And that is on ANY car, no matter the mileage or apparent condition.

That car sold a few days ago, a friend took a look at it but someone else bought it.

It had a milltek exhaust but the car was in very good condition and had a book full of invoice for all the work it has had done over the years
