Evenin' all.

Quick question if I may......

....about the change the FFRR and one of the cars that is on the list of possibles is an XFR (it will be new one) along with a CLS63 AMG, plus assorted 'sensible' oil-burners.

Now, according to fuelly.com, I have averaged a measured (not OBC'd) 25mpg in the Rangie over the last year (17k miles) - what can I expect from an XFR (non-leaden, but occasionally twitchy right foot) - about the same?

Thanks

..oh, 50:50 A road and Motorway with 30 mile round-trip, mainly urban, every other week for the home games!

I get 26 now and again on a long motorway run but real time avg for me is 20 - 21 ish. Not that I really pay much attention to it....... You can't worry about it in a car like this.

Same, 20.5 - 21.5, average pistonheads driving, ie a mix of commuting, mway miles and hoofing!

You need to work out the extra cost in £ per year at your current milleage, not the mpg.

You get a couple more mpg with the 8 speed box - I now often see 25 or 26mpg whereas before (with my 6 speed XFR) I would typically get 22 or 23mpg.
8 speed car also gets stop-start but I doubt this saves much fuel (especially as I usually turn it off as it can be annoying!)

Gearboxes do make a differance

Having fitted a MANUAL gearbox to my '99 XKR I'm always getting 25+% mpg

And the added enjoyment of having full control

Yes, I followed that when I had my XK.

I remember the XK's OBC giving me 25mpg avge per tankful and up to 30mpg on a single trip but having experienced the 15% high readings given by the FFRR OBC I am now somewhat dubious of those figures (I never did any manual checks).

But if 24-25mpg is measurably acheivable with an 8-speed XFR then I can feel the early twitches of a distinctly evil smile!

After all, if SWMBO won't let me have another TVR........

I've booked an extended test drive in Nov in an XFR. £20k discount on new ones at the moment.

A few people I know who have just bought new ones from dealers, and also according to http://www.drivethedeal.com/

Spec one up yourself. I was getting about £300 shy of £20K discount on that website.

Just been on their site. A brand new XFR for £46k is insane! Hopefully these deals will be around next spring when I change car but I suspect these deals will only last until December.

£19477 discount!!!

However, the not-so-small print.....

Extra Information
ALL MODELS:
The quoted prices include a £1,500 discount (£10,000 on XFR model) which is conditional upon you taking out PCP finance at 4.9% APR Representative over 20 to 48 months with a deposit of up to 30% arranged by the dealer. If you do not wish to take out this finance then you will need to add £1,500 or £10,000 respectively to the prices that we quote.

If you don't want the finance, then just buy the car with it, and pay it off the following month. That's what the dealer told me when I bought my XFS on the same deal.

I suspect that as 2014 is the run-out year for the current model, that the discounts may get better.

Not at all, but I will need to part-ex so using these people is not an option for me - but it does give me a 'starter for 10' when speaking with the stealer.

A good find with useful info!

I just spoke to a dealer, and he said that they are able to offer massive discounts on the R because of "factory support". But as you say, a good going in point.

Wow those numbers are amazing..... I hate being poor cry

Still hopefully it will have a huge knock onto used prices and they will fall like a stone in true Jaguar fashion, right into my price range hopefully evil

Saw a very happy chappie leaving my local dealer in a spanking new black on black XFR a few days ago, looked awesome, lucky bd!

No matter, ordered an XFR in Italian Racing Red anyway - and yes, the deal was amazing! Jaw still hurts where it hit the salesman's (well, Principle's) desk.

...as they say, an offer I couldn't refuse!

Should have it 2nd half of December (clock watching already)
