Anyone cancelling next gen console preorders?
Discussion
I'm just wondering if anyone is cancelling their preorder or has swapped? I preorderd both as I wasn't sure what I wanted and I have both the 360 and PS3. However the PS3 was only ever used for exclusive titles such as Uncharted and blu-ray playback.
With the new consoles I can have blu ray on either console. The games don't entice me like the 360 did upon release.
I genuinely think the PS4 will be the most favoured once the dust settles and if Sony can improve their online hub for chat parties, invites and interaction etc.
I can't seem to decide, but seems excessive to have both on launch.

Didn't place one the in the first place.
I'm old enough to remember the PS3 and 360 launches (and I have to admit the PS2 and Xbox), I bought both within a week or so of launch, I think my Xbox came with Saints Row and a driving game I forget the name of, but it was kind of like GTA in so much as you drove around a realist looking map, only the cars were 'real' and you were limited to just driving them, I'm sure you could get into races, but it was far from easy - both games seemed rushed and lacking features. I foolishly turned the Xbox from laying to standing whilst it was on and it ate the driving game disc, got bored of Saints Row and sold it, losing about £150 in the process.
The PS3 came with Resistance, which was okay, but not earth shattering - I spent most of it's first year showing off Blurays to my SD watching mates ha ha.
Ultimately, a year after they launched they were noticeably cheaper, it was also when they started to get into their stride with the games, IMHO the first year titles were like previous gen games with slightly shinier visuals.
I don't expect this lot to be any different.

Got my PS4 pre-order in my wallet, first time I have ordered a launch console but had ps2, 360/ps3's before.
No idea if I will actually get one as I am in this 'phase 2' rubbish with Game but I have the 29th off so I will nip to local 24hr Tesco at midnight and see if they have any for general sale, but if no joy I will go to Game on Friday \sat to see if they have any available to buy or unclaimed.
I don't mind waiting but I don't want this to be the usual farce and drag on till the week before xmas and it starts all over again.
I just want to buy a console, not fight for it with mums trying to get timmy's xmas.

Thanks. I wasn't looking for any fanboy arguemenrs so that's great.
I genuinely can't decide, but most of my friends, real, or virtual will be sticking with the Xbox so there is that. I think that I might cancel the PS4 and pick that up later as I won't have time for both.
Those who do will be getting it later. We normally play BF3 so if I want to stick playing BF4 with them I'll wait for them to pick a One up in the new year.
The only games I look forward to are Forza 5, BF4 and Watch Dogs.

I'm unsre which way to go now. In the past I've always stuck with Sony. If you can get Blu Ray on the Xbox now then the choice ins't so obvious. The one thing that puts me off the PS4 is the cost for playing online. I'm always frustrated with COD lobby's crashing and host migrating so I can see why they have gone down the route of charging. If the upgrades to the infrastructure make a difference then fine but I'd be furious if I paid for a subscription then found the network issues were still there. My son has a PS2, PS3 and Xbox at his mothers and he wants me to get the PS4. You have to pay for online gaming on both systems now so I might just end up with the PS4. All I do is bash COD so not really bothered about which has the best titles.

Two of each here.Have always loved gaming, but never been an early adopter of next gen of consoles, so I am quite excited this time around.Have a long weekend planned for end-Nov to enjoy my new purchases (and sell the surplus ones if there is a profit in it).
Why two of each out of interest?I am an XBOX fanboy and hate Sony with a passion BUT due to my home setup I have no interest in a kinect and am pissed I have to buy one even if they now say it does not need to be plugged in. The problem will come when many mainstream games will require a kinect and they won't run on my setup. Seems there is growing resistance to the kinect regardless of MS saying they will not snoop on you.
Maybe people should leave the kinect plugged in and have nightly meetings about bomb making and targets and see if the police turn up !!

I had a PS4 on order. I cancelled it as there weren't any launch titles that really grabbed me. Although Watch Dogs and The Infamous game look good. Then when I found out GTA5 wasn't available on it, I cancelled the order. I'm glad I did as I also have shed loads of games from PS+ that I've never played so no real need to buy anything else for a while, let alone another expensive console!
Currently have two Xbox one day one editions one with free Forza and one with free FIFA and a Ps4. Probably going to cancel the Ps4 as I haven't seen a single exclusive I am excited about. To be honest if it wasn't for Forza 5 I probably wouldn't get either yet.
The FIFA day one is to sell .

when both were announced, and the XBone TANKED at E3 due to it's DRM and huge price and all the other issues which got them such incredible negative feedback, I favoured the PS4 and put down a pre-order. Then Microsoft obviously did a 180 turn and announced some changes they would make to actually make the Xbone competitive, so it's actually a more level playing field now.
Ultimately, I'm not sure which I want, probably both eventually. I have a 360 and PS3, got the 360 first, barely even touched the PS3 (except for Netflix!) so I'm no Sony fanboy.
Ultimately I think it will come down to who out of my friends gets which (most will get XB I think due to fanboy brand loyalty) so I can see the PS4 being a (less expensive than Xbone but still expensive) paper weight. I'm sure 99% of games will come out on both, even if not immediately on both consoles.

Had ps1,ps2 and ps3. Got a Xbox 360 when ps online was down when it got hacked but just didnt like it, keep it for a year or so but never used it. I be down at game around 10pm to see how busy it is. My mate is (was) a huge Xbox fan and has both but never really plays he's ps3 but he's getting ps4 as well. Plus its bit cheaper. I'm going to p

I've pre-ordered both as I'm a dead rising and forza fan but also like a lot of the sony exclusives as well. Quoted the above as I'm curious as to what people will think the prices will drop to after a year or so, and we start to see slim or sans kinect consoles.
I'm going for £299 PS4 xmas next year and £329 Xbox one.

I'm waiting off before buying either. I was excited about the last gen consoles coming to market, and bought an Xbox 360 on release. Shame that within a year it had RROD and so I had to buy a 2nd one. Its partly this reason why I'm waiting to see whether theyre both stable platforms, and to see which one seems to capture the best reviews from both customers and developers.
I'm not a massive gamer, never have been but I used to buy several titles before. The last few years i've pretty much turned away from it as I've hit my thirties. I tend to jump in to gaming during autumn/winter and out during spring/summer. Some of the online stuff requires dedication to have any success, more so than ever really.

I have a PS4 on pre-order, but no games. I'm not sure what to get at the moment as everything looks pretty crap. I think I'll just buy something first-party-ish like Knack or something and see how it goes.
Not really interested in the new xbox, except for Forza5. Might pick one up after launch.

So you are buying the console which has no games that interest you over the one that does? Not really interested in the new xbox, except for Forza5. Might pick one up after launch.
Very interesting
