We replaced the battery and alternator a couple of days ago as the battery was not keeping a full charge and the alternator was only putting out 11v. Now that both items are replaced the battery is maintaining 12.6v and when the engine is running with lights/aircon/radiometer on the charge increases to 14.3v with the alternator.

However, when the fan comes on the voltage at the battery drops to 12.3v.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? The vehicle is a Jeep Patriot CRD which hasthe same engine as the VW BKD PD 140

Cheers

Sounds like a dodgy connection somewhere, i would start by examining all the connections on the fan circuit and battery area.
Some vw and seats have a distribution block near the battery with fuse links in, worth checking these too if yours has them. Ive seen some burning of terminals in there before but couldnt tell you which circuit.
