I have an issue with my sidelights - neither of them are working. I have removed the full headlight from one side (there was another issue with it) and have checked to see whether I have a live on the sidelight connection when they should be on....but there is none.

I have checked the earth is good - which it is.

When I press the sidelight button, there is no relay click (I am not sure whether I should expect one?) but the dash light comes on and the green light below the button illuminates.

There are four spade connectors on the back, two red and two red and white. Could these be muddled up and causing an issue?

I have checked the fuses and they are OK.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I presume I should be able to test this by shorting some connection?

I have determined that there is a red live that feeds two pins on the switch. By connecting the live to the other two (red/white) one operates the rear lights and other the dash lights come on....no front lights. I presume from what Jo is saying that this should feed the front.

I have then checked where the red/white wire goes that feeds the dash lights (and I presume the front lights). It goes into a white connection box - and I can test that it is live there. This wire has then been previously replaced (by someone else) and has been soldered under the dash. It is still live there too...

Under the dash, the wire that comes from the switch is soldered to three red/white wires. Two which head passenger side and one which head the driver side - can anyone explain why?

Behind the grill, I see the wiring coming through on the passenger side and then passing through the front to feed both sides.

Ok your in deeper than I got
But you have dash lights and the tell tail I did not get the dash lights
So it looks like the dash and rear are on the same pole of the swich
I don't think the side lights go through a relay its looking like you have a duff Joint
Or plug
See if you can find where the loom splits to the head lights and test there
If you still have no joy I will look in the good book tomorow
That's if no one else can point you in the right place
