I'm not sure why there are any dogs alive everything kills them.

If I've not got enough to worry about with parvo and lung worm apparently rife around here a woman on the field today told me to stay out of the local woods because dogs are dieing because of seasonal canine illness from woodland

So do I need to worry about this! I was going to take him to clumber park this weekend but it seems they have it so much there they even warn about it on their website.

He loves his walks in the woods do I need to stop?

No, you just need to make sure he doesn't eat anything he finds. Certain areas are renowned it seems for poisoned meat being left out in dog walking areas....

Hmmm that means I have to stop he hoovers everything.

Think I'll get one of those air blast spray things to try and train it out if him.

Hhhm perhaps keep him on-lead for a few days to see if there are things being dropped in your area?

Yes my understanding was that there are things being left around specific forests and areas to poison dogs....

So is this "understanding" based on actual fact or just the internet scare/rumor mill? First-hand (or even second/third) information or Chinese whispers?

So far this year where I walk my dog, I've been told of gangs stealing dogs there, Parvo deaths, deliberate poisoning and a roaming huge black GSD thats ripped several dogs apart. The last story started as a "dog attack" (no death) and within a week had progressed through a dog killed, to several dogs. It was first a "black dog", through "Huge GSD" to the hound of the Baskervilles!

Nobody can actually tell you who these things have happened to... but they know...

..
Well, I know an awful lot of doggy people. They talk. A lot. I can't verify every single incident of course but quick searches bring up a lot of information, even like:

What is the cause of the poison I wouldn't be able to hazard a guess, but a few of the stories I have heard is the dogs eating someone left on the ground.

What about Poulter Country Park, only 6 miles from Clumber, and no problems there, Just watch for dog thieves operating within 20 miles of Worksop.

Seems to be a trait of the religion of peace around here, at least that's how it seems when you compare the locals & the affected parks.
