As title.

When I were but a nipper my mum used to buy these little packs of frozen slices of reconstituted beef. About 10 in a pack, each separated with a sheet of paper. The beef slices were about 2mm thick.

Used to fry from frozen in about 30-60s and were lovely in sandwich.

Can't recall seeing anything like it available these days, but having just had some sliced beef heated up in a sandwich it's triggered my memory.

Google is NOT my friend for once! smile

I remember these, they were sort of like a very thin minute steak. I used to eat them at college, as they were so thin I used to put 3 on top of each other and then put them in a sandwich covered with oyster sauces which gave then a bit of bite. Veryt nice too.

Interestingly Sainsbury's started selling them again last year but they then got pulled from our local store frown

Funnily enough, I bought a bunch of fresh thinly sliced steak from Morrisons the other day, for a Philly Cheesesteak sammich. Lovely biggrin

They are really unhealthy, if you cook three in a pan at once with no fat by the time the are ready the pan is swimming in the stuff. They are like the dirty takeout pictures but in the comfort of your own home.

I think they would be really good in a wrap with cheese slices at 1am on a Saturday morning after a few beers. Like someone said, like a UK Phili cheesesteak but better.

Widely available from purveyors of reconstituted filth such as iceland, farmfoods and jack fultons etc. god knows whats in them but they are lovely, nice when the bread is dipped in the muck that seeps out while frying too. What my mother used to call "a steak dip" .

Whenever I'm in the states I have to go to Denneys and have a Philly Melt.....but this thread has inspired me to make my own.

You seem to be suggesting that this is a bad thing? smile

Yes, in the freezers, called Scotch Minute Steak or similar.

No, they make you dribble even thinking about them, like Homer Simpson.

I might have to visit Asda's et al to find them again.
