Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning
Discussion
I have played Demon's Souls and Dark Souls through and enjoyed them immensely - I generally don't play through games more than once so NG+ does not appeal to me.
I was wondering if anyone has played the game in the title and could give their opinion.
Also, can it be completed? i.e. limited side quests and main story OR is it like Skyrim where it is possibly endless?
I trust that this makes sense?!
Thanks, H

I agree with Mannginger, KoA was originally an MMO, but they couldn't pull it off, so it was changed to just be a single player game. It's a bit more of a cross between Fable and World of Warcraft, Fable for the one button per magic, melee or ranged combat and WoW for the quest structure and expansive map.
I got bored with it after about 10 hours or so. The Witcher 2 is a great game once you've got past the quite tricky learning curve, Dragons Dogma might also be worth a look, as it's reasonably similar to Dark Souls.

Kingdoms of Amalur was fun, think WoW but single player.
It looks gorgeous, I loved the art style. It's easy though, really, really easy and it gets repetative. I got it for free on PSN+. I don't think I would pay for it.
The story of the guy who started the company that made it is worth looking up. He was a former professional baseball player who sunk all his career earnings, over $50 million, into the company. The company went bust and he lost everything.
Last week he had an auction at his house selling off all his stuff, down to kids toys and fake plants.

Yeah that whole story is a mess. He seems like he really wanted to make games, but maybe he was a little naive. The local government really didn't help though. I actually really enjoyed it. It looks great, in the way that maybe Fable 2 looks great - not technically but very nicely designed, so there's lots of great vista's to admire. Combat is fun, like a simpler God of War and is better than most of its cotemporaries. There's a huge amount of side quests to get stuck into, though the main story is not the most gripping. The world is well constructed and fun to be in but is not anything like as cohesive as Skyrim or Fallout.
Much preferred it to The Witcher 2 and Dragons Dogma. Skyrim is still the ruler of the fantasy rpg's though.

It is very similar to Fable with a bit of dragon Age thrown in. I enjoyed it, a bit repetitive at times but I didn't feel let down by it
I assume you've tried the Fallout series?
I don't own an Xbox to play Fable on but have seen reviews and it does appeal to me.

I thought Fallout 3 was great but never moved on to New Vegas. I think maybe it was too similar?
Have you played Demon's Souls and Dark Souls?

Honestly - I'd recommend Guild Wars 2 instead of KoA. I know it's ostensibly an MMO but it doesn't "feel" lie one as the majority of group events just kind of happen without needing to group up or anything along those lines
The game play is better than KoA albeit in a similar style and you can also download a "combat mode" mod that makes the character move like a 3rd person shooter (No need to constantly hold the mouse button down and cause RSI!)
Well worth a try IMO

Umm... you what... you can use the keyboard for movement in guild wars 2 and its a lot easyier that just using the mouse. Just use the mouse for chainging view angle and selecting mobs and your fine.
Also, if your getting rsi from holding down a mouse button for a while you must be quite delicate and new to gaming...
