Lid mounted cree led

Have a t6 led on my bars and want a lid light without the trailing wires & battery pack. Anyone tried one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CREE-XM-L-T6-LED-1800Lm-... ?
Think I am going to pull the trigger on it & see what it is like.

I have that headband, as supplied with the more common t6 with the fly lea battery.
I can't see any way to make it work well on a cycling helmet. Strapping it on means tge light points far too "down" to be useful on the bike.
I ended up using a torch (also cree eby tat), and taping it to the lid - gave much better range.

If Lazer can put a rear flashing light in the helmet, why can't they put a few small leds in the front, how simple would that make it?

Hi, I've got the same light, and managed to mount the head strap to my lid witha couple of cable ties. Will take some pics in the morning when I finish work.

There's a big difference between adding a couple of small LEDs for visible rear light and adding a big beam on the front.

A head torch is only beneficial on a bike for off road use to light up what you're looking at. A small 'be seen' only LED has no use really.

It's not cree, and has trailing wires and a battery pack, but I use an alpkit gamma and it works very well. fits nicely on the helmet using the existing headband, wires are neat, and there's a flashing red on the battery pack. £15 delivered.

I bought a 900 lumen torch a couple of years ago and its still going strong on the rechargable batteries it came with. I have had a USE Joystick for donkies now and the cree torch sits nicely in the USE bracket.

Arrived today, does what it says on the tin, not too heavy on my lid. Will try and get into Dellamere at the weekend to see how it does

an easy way to mount it on your lid to raise the beam a bit is to put a small piece of tubing underneath the light. Tube size depends how much higher it needs to point. Stays solid

In the past I've used an Ultrafire T6 torch, held on using a charity wristband threaded over the torch, through the helmet vents and back over the torch.

As a safety precaution in case the band snaps, I remove the battery cover, thread the wrist strap through the helmet and back through itself, and then refit battery cover. This would prevent the torch falling off and getting lost. (It would just clout me round the back of the head, no doubt!)

The Lazer Oasiz Helmet has a GoPro mount built into it and that also takes the light mount.

That is my mainstay. On my helmet all year round, you don't need a helmet light any brighter on flashing mode. Batteries last really well. Never let me down.

I have one of these and its not a great helmet to be honest. Im disappointed in it, it has sort of suspension system in it and you cant tighten it up so the weight of the camera or headtorch makes it wobble. Bloody annoying!
