% spent on 'extra options' by brand / model

I'd be really interested in this - if the basic price of a BMW 5 series is index 100, what index is the avaerge paid across a given period of time / model run.
Same for a Renault Clio - how many people actually option anything extra as a factory build at all? I would guess the index would be far less.
It's probably classed as manufacturer marketing data, all on a need to know basis and not freely avaialable?
Would love to see any data / insights out there.

Very true... Even manufacturers themselves (it's something I've been involved with) can find it difficult to determine what to cost as 'base', given a modern vehicle is a highly complex, 'optioned' product...
Something else that's likely to affect things is how a particular model is sold - i.e. a vehicle that's frequently sold as a company car (particularly pool or indeed hire cars) are often going to be spec'd fairly low, whereas a private vehicle (particularly in the case of PCP, where it's seen as 'a few more quid a month') is probably likely to be spec'd higher, even if it's fairly cheap model - sometimes the basic trim level etc. is almost only made available to bring the 'base' price down to a competitive figure for marketing!
