Hi All,

A few years ago i had a TVR with viper stripes, when i tried to remove them (stupidly, without heat) it pulled the paint off the undercoat.

As there is quite a few of us with stripes, and wraps and stuff, how does the noble paint process stand up to vinyl removals, with heat?

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt , small stickers ect have been ok to remove on mine with some heat and patience before it was wrapped , managed to take off all the wrapp off the roof with no issues as it got damaged on track but the rear clam had to be recovered and it was a nightmare with paint fling off all over the place !!!!!!

Following the Goldtrack Silverstone event, I was pretty angry that the number stickers that we were required to affix, managed to take some paint with them when peeled off! I will never use them on my paintwork again. Anyone else have this problem? I thought of complaining directly to Goldtrack as the sticker glue is obviously too strong.

When we did the Mira/racecar engineering thing my car was covered in vinyl stickers number discs etc, I used a heat gun to warm them up, there were no issues

So what's the verdict here? Don't use stickers or wrap?

I've heard that despite wrap manufacturers' saying that the wrap protects the car it, in fact, destroys the paintwork after time as it takes the laquer/paint off if/when removed.

I've had lots of big stickers/vinyl on the car for races and it's never been a problem removing them and never used heat, my paint is original though so prob very hard now.

There is an alternative to a wrap called plastidip

Basically a rubber skin is sprayed onto the car

It is easy to peel off

I have not heard any issues with paint peeling off

I guess the problem with a fibreglass car is rain being trapped under the wrap and the car not being able to dry out
