battery conditioner 2010 boxster spyder

Can I plug a battery charger / conditioner into the accessory socket in the passenger footwell of my boxster, or will this cause a CAN bus controller somewhere to get upset?

I plug my CTek into the cigarrete lighter socket - no problems.

I fit the wire direct to the battery and it hangs out the car near the wipers.

also that's how Porsche do it.

the light on the lead than tells you when you need to plug it in with a 3 coloured light system

Ditto Mr D. I hardwired to the battery and have a short tail which allows me to connect under the bonnet and the Ctek sits by the wiper

Were there any problems with disconnecting the battery to connect the lead? I am thinking about issues with the on board computer, alarm or VTS for instance.
I currently use the cigarette lighter socket for my charger, but would prefer the under bonnet solution…

Me too! Easier than opening the trunk and connecting!

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like a go-er. Normally I wire a charge point into the battery and run it in to the car into the glove box, but seeing as the cigarette lighter and accessory socket are always live (even with ignition off) I may as well use one of them.
