I'm looking at a hands-free for my 55-plate shed, as it didn't have it as new. Before I go for an after-market thingy, does anyone run an x-type with this option. I can get the box for about £70-£100 second-hand, but is it any good with today's phones - i.e. iphone?

Cheers

The factory-fit bluetooth option works perfectly on '05 X-Type, with both my BlackBerry (c. 2 years old) and Motorola Razr-I (c. 1 year old).

Check the jag forums. Some of the earlier phone modules won't work with the iPhone, and you'll need a BT module too, and possibly wiring changes.

Oh. Might have to go after-market then?

Similar issue with my x type, which arrived with an aftermarket kenwood in it. £180 got me a fitted Alpine bluetooth stereo and handsfree mike, far better than the kenwood and I can voice dial my phone for music as well as phone calls.

My '06 X-type's factory fit system works perfectly with my BlackBerry, as it did with my previous Sony Ericsson. Even JaguarVoice works with my broad North-East accent!

Dunno about an iPhone though. Apple will probably expect you to by an Apple iCar or something that's compatible.

hehe

I bought the module to upgrade my '05 but never got round to fitting it. I still have it lying around somewhere.

If yours is a Euro4 model with Voice then you may already have the BT pre-wire from the factory and just need to plug in the module.

Cheers everyone. Might get the wiring checked out.
