993 Aircon compressor rebuild - Upgrade

I took my 993 into have a service last week.
All went well, no horror stories and a very short - to do list.
The only potentially outrageously expensive item that needs investigation is…. The aircon compressor.
The aircon works, it was recharged in the summer, however it doesn’t blow cold to the right specifications.
In previous years I have ignored this… thinking it maintains a cool rather than cold output.
However this year it was overcome on several days and it was pretty unpleasantly hot.
(I know some will say 993’s have always had poor aircon, however I felt it was fine, even pretty good).
Has anyone had a compressor rebuilt? What was the damage? and is there a modern equivalent available to replace the existing unit.

Thankfully haven't had to have the air-con done on my 911 but I have had a new compressor and condenser on the family Galaxy. I used a guy based in Farnham (he came out to me). He's retired and very laid-back but knows his stuff and only uses OEM parts. He does a lot of sports cars and I'm sure we discussed 911s at the time. PM me if you'd like his details.
