Im sure some of you might be aware i have gone the expensive route into replacing my MK2 MX5.. Firstly putting a deposit on a MGB and wimping out of the long journey break down paranoia and losing my deposit. Secondly i buy a 2006 Honda Civic.. which i have kept for 5 Weeks and it has been perfectly "fine" but bloody boring..
..I went for a little look at the MK3 MX5 because id read that its a good step up from the MK2. I ended up on a test drive and fell inlove. It felt like my MK2 but like it had grown up (and didnt have bent wheels). It has quicker than my 1.6 NB and it felt like the car i always wanted to my MK2 to be!
So i pick it up tomorrow. Booked in for a tyre on thursday and wheel alignment on saturday. VERY excited and hopefully ive ended up with a car that i will keep for a while!

Great cars. Mym mate has a 2.0 sport in silver. First thing you need to do is fit 30mm lowering springs and get the geometry done though. So the car handles and looks like it was meant to from the factory.
Also keep an eye out for rust on the window pillar on the door.
Booked in for geo on saturday, cant afford to do springs yet. Noticed the window pillars are showing abit of rust which is job number two. Any quick fixes to prevent it getting any worse?Also keep an eye out for rust on the window pillar on the door.

Great car, I've had several MX 5s over the years and they are good all round fun cars, enjoy.
My favourite is still the mk1 just love the proportions and the pop up lights. The mk3 is a lot more refined compared to the mk1, sleepless nights now until you pick it up.....

The heaters are very good for topless winters blasts, is the hood mohair or vinyl? Enjoy
Got abit carried away been driving and looking at it all evening! Mohair hood.. Which leads me on to the noise with it up, im guess the passenger side drain hole flap is stuck open as i can hear road noise from about 10mph. Off to get a trombone brush tomoz and have a fiddle. Ha! Knew that was coming, fixed with abit of sponge shoved in the drain! Funny how i was motivated to jack the car up, get dirty feeling around underneath the car for half an hour but not lubing up a clutch pedal on the civic! Feels good to be back in a car i like!elephantstone said:

Not to my knowledge. A rub down and rust treat should keep it away for a while. My mate got eibach springs from mx5parts for £180. We fitted them ourselves. Took us a whole weekend though lol but better than £200 garage labour fees. 
Good choice, black looks really good. Is it a 6-speed with an LSD and Bilsteins?
I recently went from a ph2 Clio 172 to an MX-5 NC:
Love the driving position as well as the overall refinement. Miss the manic performance and chuckability of the 172 at times. Also, the original suspension on the NC is soft once you really start pushing it (rolling from side to side). Needs some bits to cure this (springs, sways). Nonetheless - a great car imo

It is indeed. I have the geo done which has made a big difference. Will upgrade suspension eventually but next job is to get the underside protected from rust!I recently went from a ph2 Clio 172 to an MX-5 NC:
