Anyone know where I can get them?

Saw some today at Bedford, and was very impressed with the grip and durability.

just mailed dunlop uk to get a list of suppliers.

Their PR for this tyre is hopeless!

Michelin must shave sold plenty of pilot sport tyres on the back of the Cup tyre reputation

Dunlop cant seem to be bothered.

T, let me know if you have any luck, I will need to source a set soon given the condition of mine and having seen how well they performed yesterday on Stv's car,

Take it you got home ok despite the unwanted metalwork in your tyre

Kieran

You can get the tyres direct from dunlop, although they do have i think 4 suppliers in the uk.
Parr motorsport,& paragon were supplying them.
I get my tyres direct from dunlop as part sponsorship package,so not sure if they will sell direct to you.
They are a good road/track tyre, but be wary of deep standing water,as you would be with any tyre.
I have competed on them for the last 2 years, they do wear well, with a low wear rating of 60.
regards
paul.

Thanks Kieron,

Ill post the results on this thread. Ive also mailed the German contact kindly forwarded by Davyboy.

I got home fine thanks..checked the pressure again, had only dropped a couple of psi.Checked this morning and had dropped one more. So the car should be ok until I can get hold of some dunlops.

It would be good to see you next Sat at bedford.

The other date, Reg and I are definately doing will be the 11th Dec with the good old RMA..

peterpeter.......I was just interest to know why you thought the Dunlop SP Sport Race were good.

It’s just that from my own experience I purchased a set thinking they would be a good compromise tyre for wet/dry trackdays and road driving compared to say the Michelin Cups. The decision being driven by the appearance of the road tyre type tread pattern. In reality, however, I think they are pretty good track tyres in the DRY (very progressive), but in the damp very unpredictable as the grip levels seem to vary dependant on the quality of the surface (new/old tarmac). This was particularly bad at Nurburgring in May after many corners had been resurfaced during the winter. Wet grip was great on the new tarmac, but changed abruptly as you traversed back to old tarmac.

I could just be a completely crap driver, but I really hate the tyres in the wet, and they are a pain on the road too as they give no confidence to push hard. Comparatively the Michelin Cups give much better grip/feedback in damp conditions on the road or on track in my opinion.

Combination of 993 Rs Clubsport and 993 GT2 .........promise comparison like for like .........may try Corsas soon as an all round deal ,thers not much will outdo a cupsport in the dry but i am quite old and this is England .......hate leaving toys unused in toyshop even in the winter!

Vic……..my experience is with an RS so your comments are interesting. Maybe I should give the Dunlop SP Race a second chance, as I have not used them at either Donno or Brands in the wet. Not tried Corsas, as I generally stick with Cups which ultimately seem to give the best laps times.

Peterpeter………Pro tyre number is 07968 307584

Did the Friday Track day of the B Hatch festival on the Indy circuit, wet as they come the Dunlops were unbelievably good..............Mel Spear [964 cup car guy] was well impressed with what i know as Clearways ...............have to say they wer not as good at Doni 10 days ago ,no extra wear.............run a fairlystiff Bilstein sport suspension set up /double coils etc and loads of neg ........the surfaces are just so different .......only took the GT2 on cups yesterday cos had had some work done ,thought it was to be dry and dying to try it out. When i bought the Clubsport it was on Cups /all same settings as described ...old story brilliant in the dry,ok except with deep standing water on road but very twitchy on track ...wud suggest its not just the power ,i dont have much bottle ,plus very old, so dry to be smoooth and still get scred on cups on wet greasy track!
