Anyone help... My trusty terrano is to be moved on soon. The wifes car is staying for now. I have a company car also. The Terrano is insured in my name with the wife as a named driver, her car in her name with me named. I have max NCB having reached 37 years old without a claim. How do I maintain my NCB when the terrano goes? Insure myself on something else? Mums car maybe? It may be a while before I buy another car.

Most places will take an NCD proof up to two or three years old and if that doesn't last until you get new car you and Mrs BFG could always alternate taking out the insurance each year so long as you're honest about who the main driver is it shouldn't be a big deal.

My daughter is in the same quandary and they get around it by alternating the policy-holder/main driver annually. This preserves NCB for both of them.

Insurance companies seem to be quite ambivalent about who is the main driver when it's a married couple, and to be truthful, they'd have difficulty with this as they do almost identical mileages in the car every year.

Yeah just alternate whose name you insure the wife's car in every two years or so
