And other such rubbish! To me this makes me think that the car oil has never been checked, driven the same regardless of whether it's warmed up or not, car park dings (and other such generalisations!)

Any other sale ad patter statements that have become entrenched to mean something good, but really they're not?!

One lady owner definitely puts me off too. Very likely to not have been looked after and scrapes on all four corners...

Well to me it meant lowish mileage, boot not used for anything heavy, back seats unused and serviced annually with MOT, all stamped up in the book. 50k miles and 4.5 years later it's still spot on.

My Mum has a six year old car, garaged, serviced every year even if has done under 1,000 miles. New clutch recently, four new tyres, no dents, rarely driven in the winter and today has just over 10,000 on the clock! Beautiful and a real steal one day when she sells.

Just over 10k and has needed a new clutch. Example of woman driver right there!

One lady owner = car probably never had the oil change, right? Puts me off.

yes

Out of interest, is she from Winchester? I saw one careful lady owner burning the crap out of her clutch while trying to do a hill start. The smoke and stench was unbelievable laugh

'One lady owner' is enough to put me off. One of my customers is a 'one lady owner' car. Came in looking for a replacement engine when it blew up at 60k. When was the last time you serviced it I asked. But it was MOT'd every year was her response.

I'd rather buy cars from owners clubs or enthusiasts. Might have had a lot of owners but chances are, it will be looked after.

The 50's called, they want their thread back.

My current car had one previous owner (female). It came with every service receipt, every MOT certificate and the cambelt had been changed on time, unlike a lot of imprezas I saw advertised

Yes we understand some women are sensible and/or petrolheads. But using that phrase in an advert usually means the cars lacking elsewhere.

Judging by my girlfriends Mazda 2 (61 plate), "one lady owner" equates to ; kerbed alloys, infrequent servicing (i.e none) ,more scratches than my 10 yr old pickup, driven hard from cold, "cleaned" by the the grit-ridden car wash brushes at sainsburys and no mechanical sympathy what so ever!

Other used car advert inclusions that make me wince include;

"FSH "( quite often just a once every two year oil/filter change)

"Aircon- just needs re-gas" ( along with new pump, condensor , evaporator)

"Bad bits- all cars have them" (particularly ones with owners who cant drive and have'nt maintained the vehicles)

MOT due but, will pass no problem ( well get it done then, dhead!)

" Best car ive owned" ( not difficult, as the last two were right stters!)

Another one I have spotted before is previously owned by a doctor. So what, how does that make it a better car? Perhaps they should list the previous owner for every car sold if its so important in the decision to buy it. To me these kind of sayings go with, First to see will buy, never driven in the rain and other nonsense people list in over the top ways like Electric sunshine roof and Burl Walnut door capping's. Get a fking life.

I've often found that FSH means it's got a service book that has been stamped with stamps I could buy from eBay, and no invoices.

For some cars 1 lady owner = but also regularly used / abused by every other family member in the household.

About a year back I saw an advert on AutoTrader for a car belonging to one the people who lives in the same road as I do. It was advertised as being 1 careful lady owner. However they didn't mention that, although the car was registered in her name, she rarely ever drove it and it was only used by the husband & son.

Ironically it was when they drove it that most of the battle scars occurred (although they were all removed by the dent man prior to sale to keep up the illusion of the "careful" owner)

"My car isn't running quite right, I think there is something wrong"

"When was the last time it was serviced?"

"Oh don't be silly, I am not falling for that scam again!"

Actual conversation I had with a female friend, the car in question has been owned by her for 3 years and has covered 50k in that time.

There is/was an old XJR on eBay I was drawn to. It said one owner in the title, then detailed the last three owners in the text. Put me off somewhat.
