After a few years of "nearly", and a couple of decades of building up to it, I picked this up from Durham a couple of weeks ago. Which meant I was forced to drive down to London through God's Own Country. Randomly up and down, left and right across the moors for a couple of hours. Hahahahahahaha. That's my technical review of driving a Vantage.
It seems the norm on PH to give them names, not sure about that (it will make life harder if we ever have to part company); perhaps Giselle.
The dealer (Stratstone Durham) were friendly and helpful, the insurance brokers (Lockton) just as much so, so a good experience in that respect.
With the moors ticked off the list, Snowdonia awaits...

Welcome. The AM PH naming thing seems to be once the cars have gone through the hallowed halls of Bamford Rose:

That's the 'next stage'.

I know its early days but, fancy another 40 plus BHP? Plus more torque with the all important added sound to die for. Give Bamford Mike a call tell him Pearl sent you!
Nice car by the way .
Much as the Bamford Rose experience seems appealing, what would I do with more horses? I've literally got hundreds of them now Nice car by the way .

Seriously, I've got the slowest of the modern AM engines, and I still can't think when I'd need more. I guess that may change when I get used to it.

Nice car indeed. Nice sheep too. One such woolly bugger walked out in front of me on the last Wales earlier this year. At least I know my brakes are fine :-)

Sounds similar to my experience, I also bought from Stratstone Durham, insured through Locktons and travelled back via the moors to London, that was all last March, great experience so far from all involved. Enjoy and congrats.]

Monte, I was with you on that one until I had an opportunity to upgrade, mine's just back from BR. Oh. My. God.

I have to admit that the one thing for me that lets the V8V (4.3) down is that I feel it's underpowered.

When would you feel that? For me, not in zones with speed limits under 40mph (you barely get going and it's time to get off the gas), not on country roads where visibility round corners adds enough frisson, maybe overtaking on motorways but I don't sit there huffing and wishing I could overtake faster. Not when I have a passenger. (and if I had more power, at some point that will go beyond what I can responsibly manage).
I know I'm wrong, because of all the people who rave about their BR upgrades and moan about the underpowered 4.3, and I just haven't realised it yet; but I am interested in what circumstances make the Vantage feel underpowered.

I did think about the BR route, but £5.5k for 40 horses is the problem. The £/horse ratio is too high.
I do love the rest of car, it's far superior to other cars I've owned in every other respect, but the lack of power, for me, just lets it down.
im not sure 380bhp can be described as under powered by any stretch of the imagination, not once have a felt my car was underpowered, maybe yours is broken? When i plant my foot down, mine squats, scrabbles about benith me for grip then fires me off in what ever direction ive chosen.
Yes ive thought about making it faster but thats beacuse i love power, not because its lacking in standard form.
