Head to Head - Aston Martin V12 Vantage S & V12 Vantage

I saw that and thought the same, the numbers on that thing are staggering.
A half second quicker to 60mph, and a lot of that half second is probably lost in the first to second gear change in the manual car. I would have expected more for the V12VS given the power and torque hike.Just as well one of them was ahead as the other would have been in for a bumpy ride on the left hand side! Interesting that it was the manual V12V on the left. I would like to see that done again on a stretch of tarmac where one driver isn't thinking about the up-coming bump strips across the lane.
Not saying the manual would be able to keep up though.
Just read the PH review on the "S"

V12 Vantage owners do not despair, take your pride and joy to Bamford Rose who will liberate the extra ponies to take your car upto 570 BHP . That will be more than enough to trounce the real World 545 ish BHP that the new V12 S is currently lauding.
But what if the S owners go to BR too

On what basis do you make this statement? Have you insider knowledge that AM is exaggerating the bhp claims of their motor? Manufacturers may have done this in the past, but they no longer take part in these shenanigans.DB9VolanteDriver said:

The standard dyno test recorded 599.2Nm @ 6000 rpm, the factory claim 620 and 543.7BHP @ 6500 rpm, the factory claim 565BHP.
This refers to a new Vanquish. The original post is halfway down this page: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...robgt said:

The original post is halfway down this page: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...Post again when you have engine dyno plots confirming that the factory is 'lying' about engine output. I am sure that BamfordMike, having been a development engineer, will confirm that chassis dynos cannot be used to confirm or repudiate engine output testing IAW international standards.
I drove the S at Silverstone and it did not feel significantly faster than the V12V on track. That might be different on the road. The paddle shift was "ok" but not groundbreaking. Aston is one generation behind the likes of Porsche PDK and Ferrari F12 territory so whilst it works ok it is by no means seamless/quick. Great car however but not for me.
