Database of used AM prices
Discussion
Would it be a good idea for everyone who sells or buys a used Aston to enter key details (price, mileage, year) into a wiki here?
On the grounds that the more information there is, the better for private buyers/sellers.
Options, colour etc make a difference, but it would be better than nothing.
This isn't a dealer-bashing thing, but that side already has the information, our side doesn't (you do a survey of listed prices, but that's not quite the same). I am not even suggesting that prices are too high/low (I'm happy to trust the market). But some of the nervousness of buying a car comes from not knowing whether the price you are paying is in line with the rest of the market pays. And it would help answer some of the theories, such as buying a roadster in December is £10k cheaper, or London prices are higher.

PLUS A CAR IS WORTH WHAT EVER SOMEONE WILL PAY, ooops caps,
there will always be ther cars that sell for more than what they are worth on paper and those that seem excessively cheap.
Not to mention seasonal swings.
I think the best guide for a seller/ buyer is current market vales of similar cars.

1. Part of what I agree to pay is based on emotional and other factors, including the better information (and negotiating experience) that the dealer has. You could say it doesn't matter if I'm happy, that's fine. It might matter at resale time, though.
2. We don't know the market value of similar cars; we know what what sellers are asking, which presumably is higher than market value.

Whats market value other than the price that they are asking/your willing to pay?1. If you go by Glasses/Parkers/other then your car is worth 25% less than it costs to replace........
Market value...? Pah!
James,
A dealer could become upset, and think you have threatened their livelyhood.
A complaint post will be submitted, and your 'Database of used AM prices' will be wiped off.
Then, no one will ever dare mention the subject again.
No, that could never happen surely.
