So, the CLK is gone and I needed something better to take my hair to the hairdressers in wink

Tbh the TT was never on my radar. I was just browsing the classifieds and the colour of this one caught my eye, I have never seen a mk1 in white and the black roof and black rs4 alloys really suited it, so within 48 hours I had viewed and bought it, quickest decision I have ever made.

Performance wise, it is the 180bhp quattro so while no supercar it is no slouch either. It feels a bit quicker than the merc in the dry and since it is the first 4wd car I have owned, feels amazingly good in the rain - good since I live in Scotland! It does feel very Golf like to drive but since my mrs is usually with me, Im not usually exploring the limits of the car!

What has really impressed me though is that my costs have halved compared to the Merc. I could never get over 35mpg in the CLK. The TT did that while driven hard. My parking permit is now half price, the insurance is cheaper and my tax is about £70 a year less.

pics. private plate is coming off this week.

I love MK1 TT's and that looks great in that colour combo.

I think they can only appreciate now.

I hope you already know, but if not...It was painted black and white by a place in Govan in Glasgow after being in a smash and ended up a write off.
They got it fixed, resprayed it black and white, put new wheels on with black headlights and sold it.

Might not be the same one but there's had blue leather and used to be blue I think, I'll phone and find out though.

Edit-If you know it was in a smash then disregard this but if it was me id want to know.

Girlfriend just texted the pictures to her pal and it's defo their old TT frown
It's Audi Ibis white and they said they're certain it's there's cos not many had blue leather and everyone usually leaves the mirrors the same as the roof but he got his done white cos they were scraped quite badly from the hedges in his driveway.

When you find out the original plate let me know and we'll tell you for sure but they're 99% it's their old one cos there's not many around that's black and white with blue leather.
They sold it cos the chassis was slightly off and kept going through tyres at an alarming rate.
Did you buy it from a dealer? Might be able to get your money back.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news mate.

I know frown Feel like a horrible now but if he's just bought it from a dealer then he might still have a chance of getting his money back.
Me personally, the state it was in I wouldn't want that car. It was a pretty bad smash on the M80 during winter, hit the central reservation then went backwards into a tree and bushes. Not ideal.

Hey all.

Dont feel bad, these are all things I need to know! If this is defo the same car (ill have original plates tomorrow) then there is nothing I have noticed - the guy who I bought it from was a mechanic and has replaced pretty much all the suspension, and it came on 4 new tyres so havent noticed any uneven wear. It also does not pull to one side, even over the roads around here. I have not been over 90mph and probably wont, but it felt very safe even then. It passed an MOT test with no advisories a month ago.

I usually do an hpi check but I didnt have the original reg no. This car was under £3k as well so if this is that car I dont feel too bad. Im confident the issues will have been fixed, the previous owner had it for years and they took their kids out in it regularly, and the guy knew his stuff so I doubt he'd take that risk.

Wow. Was not expecting this! I wont be getting rid however smile

Seller should declared it being a write off though. Surely you would have to declare this to your insurers also, as can't imagine they will payout if you were unfortunate to have an accident

I had to call my insurance company rather than do it online but I wasnt asked that? Im still in touch with the seller, ill ask him tomorrow.

Would ins companies not have a record of such things?

They had to replace the suspension too because of the chassis problem. They put the suspension off of the QS on it I think.

Apologies, It was silver but had blue leather. It was the blue leather that made me think it was blue outside too. I've got a pic of it when it was silver and she's trying to find the memory stick with the pictures of it smashed....in all honesty if you're happy with it I would want to see the pictures because I remember seeing them and thinking there's no way they can out it back on the road.

Edit: Got the original reg aswell from my girlfriends pal. I'll pm you and you can confirm if it is or not.

Word to the wise, white Mk1 TT's were special order & pretty rare. I'd always want to know the history of a white one, the colour itself is a bit of an indicator.

This car was silver from the factory. It has a full service history... although no major accident repairs in there obviously!

It feels absolutely solid to me, and has obviously had a lot of money spent on it. Lets just hope they did a good job fixing it and if not I guess ill be driving it through the pearly gates. biggrin

I...err... dont really want to see the pics. It will most likely just a) ruin the experience of a car I really enjoy and b) make me more paranoid than usual. Which is lots.

Good news!

When I texted my girlfriend the reg you sent me, she texted me saying 'the reg of the TT is X*** ***' instead of texting her pal. So I thought she was confirming the reg that they sent her.
Panic over, there's was also an X reg but was X*** GMU.
There's was identical to yours though but they had the A pillars trimmed for replaced with black alcantara and to put your mind at rest they've checked their old one and it hasnt been taxed or MoT'd since 2 years ago so it sounds like it's gone to car heaven. And unconfirmed but the last time someone seen it in Glasgow it was resprayed pink and owned by a girl who owned a Dog grooming service.

Sorry for the panic! Feel like a dick now frown
