I got flashed after completing an overtake on my way home tonight.
And it got me thinking, i drive quickly, but ive never been confronted about the speed i drive at.
I have heard of things like this happening, so, has anyone here been told off?

Have a mate who recently overtook an ambulance (not on a run!) whilst out for a blast. They must have radioed ahead as when he got to the next town the police wanted a little word with him. S59 for his troubles!

Got moaned at for chirping the tyres on a rented Corvette in a hotel parking lot in Santa Barbara. Think the valet was just jealous because I didn't let him park it hehe

All the time on the bike. It has the baffles and cats out though.

People stop, turn, shake their heads, wake their fingers and ocassionally shout.

It also does 106mph in first so 30mph poodling sounds a lot louder than the speed I am carrying.

Yes.

Earlier this year I was driving her Fiesta along a road in town, its a fairly wide straight road and it was a lovely clear dry Sunday morning probably about 8am. I really have no idea how fast I was going but I wasn't trying to drive quickly so 35-40mph is likely, as I was driving I saw some kids run across the road followed by a man & woman who began to cross, I didn't slow as they were a good 200 metres away and would have been well over the road by the time I got there.

Except as I got closer the bloke stopped just before the centre of the road and as I began to slow he stepped backwards (not turned around and walked the other way) so I had no option but to stop (or hit him) as I did he began ranting and wagging his finger so I opened the window and asked what was wrong.

'You're a lunatic flying around like that while there are kids around!' - was his reply, followed by 'You should be ashamed of yourself speed kills you nutter'.

I did point out that standing in front of cars is more dangerous than driving quickly but that didn't shut him up, so instead I picked up my phone and handed it towards him telling him that if I was breaking the law or doing something illegal he could use it to contact the Police and I'd wait with him, this somehow stopped him ranting but he didn't take up the offer.

I couldn't bring myself to be angry at him, in fact I almost felt sorry for him as he was clearly a bit mental.

Nope, I've never had a stranger tell me off for how fast they were going.

I drive past a house every day where the bloke is occasionally out from washing his car/watering etc. He doesn't like me going past in a noisy car and I get starred at. I imagine he thinks I'm going fast as its loud, but I'm just in a different gear to him.

Every so often I'll make some noise for him. Fussy bd, I'm only doing 20 in a 30.

Someone reported me to the police for "overtaking at speed"

Does this count?

(Overtaking at speed is so dangerous, I suppose. Must do it slower).

I get flashed on overtakes occasionally.

I do not think the flashing has anything to do with anything. I think it is just peanut brains encountering something which although safe and legal and not causing them to brake or change direction, the other vehicles in their field of vision are not doing.

The amount of times I have been flashed when overtaking by oncoming traffic has risen dramatically recently.
I have no idea what's causing it but it is definitely a recent phenomenon.

Maybe overtaking is viewed as antisocial now that there is no real speed difference in potential between vehicles. Back in the days when Morris Minors and Jags roamed the earth together it was probably a more commonplace thing.

Got ranted at a few weeks ago whilst out on my mountain bike, going down a road at about 15 to 20 mph and came around a bend to be confronted by a woman and her daughter on horse back. Woman went off on one straight away about speeding and startling the horse. Couldn't seem to grasp that it was a NSL road and I was doing about 15 to 20 mph whereas a car would most likely have been doing double!

I also once got told off by someone for pulling onto a private driveway so fast that I could have killed her kids.

When I asked where her kids were she said upstairs.

I laughed and when I came back out of my Gran's the lady with the fragile children and her husband were waiting for me, I got another mouthful of abuse and he threatened to give me a kicking, I waited a few minutes for him to actually grow the spuds to walk away from his doorstep and do it before leaving still chuckling.

I actually think I hate people.

I've only been flashed at a couple of times while overtaking, both by the car I'm overtaking rather than an oncoming.

I did once have a neighbour complain I was driving too fast based on the sound of the engine rather than the speed I think. At the time it was running twin 40s with no filters, a 4->1 and a silly backbox so anything over around 2k rpm was noticeable

It is a way of congratulating you on a beautifully executed manoeuvre

I know someone who flashes cars that overtake him as he thinks they need help pulling back in, he doesn't understand why he gets so many two fingered salutes in return.
